[Chapter 38 – Where were you on the night of Mr. Lazzaro's murder?]

Tau silently 'asked' in his mind, unsure if it was being properly translated towards the sword but he did so anyway. Not strength, not desire, not heart, Tau slowly pulled out the sword from the sanctuary as thought it was the most natural thing and as he did a heavenly aura surrounded the interior of the Grand Cathedral. A bright light flashed before those present, even driving some to tears at the revelation of such a beautiful aura.

The heavenly light subsided and with it small white feathers started to rain from above. Standing before Tau and the sword was a figure of pure light, feminine in proportion, pure white wings but all of the details were hidden by said light. Confused as to what to do next when this figure appeared Tau glanced over to his side but none of the other people seemed to be reacting towards the figure of light. 'Could it be that they can't see her?' it was the most likely conclusion to draw from their non-responsive expressions.

It was then a high pitched screeching noise could be heard. Dreadful and unpleasant the noise wouldn't stop but once again only Tau seemed to be the only one hearing this awful sound. Was it the effect of the sword? It didn't feel like something the sword would do but as soon as the noise stopped a faint pressure could be felt coming from his grip on the sword.

It was only for a brief second that Tau was freed from the awful sound but as soon as he realized what was going on he was no longer standing at the Sanctuary but was flying. Flying across the room with at high speeds, not just him but everyone else was pushed aside from a powerful shockwave that pulsed from the sword. Following his brief adventures in the sky he crashed through the walls of the Cathedral and temporarily lost consciousness.

Unguarded and unprepared for such an event all the people had been put unconscious as they smashed into the nearest wall. The [Repulsion Trap] had been successfully sprung concluding the first stage of Mordred's plans prior to the First Prince's arrival. Tau was to be branded a 'rejected hero' and once Lazzaro Zeder was murdered he would then be actively shunned by the church and public. In his weakness Morgana would come to his defense and speak on behalf of his innocence.

Amidst the pile of unconscious bodies two figures stood, unharmed, watching over the entire scene as it played out. They had been waiting in the shadows since before the incident, or rather it could be said that they were waiting for this incident to pass so they could make their move. Mordred, in his Phantom attire and Morgana in her formal outing dress walked over the unconscious bodies strewn across the floor and to the center of the cathedral.

"It looks the first stage went without a hitch."

Morgana spoke as she covered her mouth with a small fan and chuckled. Though normally she was much more tame compared to Mordred's malicious habits, sometimes Morgana did act out on those stereotypical 'villainous' tendencies. As she inherited many of Mordred's traits she too enjoyed playing the part of the big 'mastermind'.

"We're not done yet so don't get too complacent."

Mordred warned as he hunched over to check if Tau had really fallen unconscious.

"Fuu~ you don't have to be such a stick in the mud, there's no one that could possibly contest our plans. With this we'll have the 'Hero' in our hands and once you take out the Grand Cardinal we can start whittling down at the Church's power."

"We haven't been in this country, this world for so long so we should still at least time a little precaution. Our biggest advantage isn't power but that we're an unknown force so we'll have to make sure it stays that way. It would be a headache if someone found out."
