"M-M-Mistress?! There's no possible way I could do something like that! No, no, no, no~!"

Rushing up towards Morgana in panic, Rena loudly protested against the idea of her becoming a minister. To her she was merely a lowly innkeeper turned maid; there was no conceivable way she would be cut out for administrative work. There was also the fact that she was part of the controversial demon race thus guaranteeing the fact that there would be no shortage of people protesting her promotion.

Of course Morgana was well aware of all of this even before she nominated her. After waiting for Rena to vent and calm down she firmly grasped her shoulders and reassured her.

"You don't have anything to worry about Rena. You can leave all of the administrative details to me; the reason why I want you to become a minister is because of your background."

Rena slightly tilted her head to the side in confusion. In truth Rena was almost too perfect to be a real person; no history of corruption or any political affiliation in general. Despite having living most of her life in the contentions of humans she has endured and remained pure of heart. She likes to take care of people and would most likely be well suited for facilitating the public's needs. Generally is kind hearted and is a good listener. Such qualities were really unfit for bureaucratic office however now that the country's foundations were shaky it was a good time to cultivate such kind talent.

"Background?"

Rena repeated.

"Yes, although I don't want to phrase it like this but I think this would be a good experiment for the future. The demons in this city have lived like second class citizens for a long time but they will eventually need to find their own place amongst the populace as equals. In order to facilitate that growth in a healthy manner we need to give them representation and I believe you would do a perfect job of it."

In other words a 'mascot'. Rena stopped to think about it for a moment before asking.

"But... why me? There is no doubt that there would be leagues of demons in this city that could do a much better job. I- I'm simply content to just stay here and serve the people of this house."

Almost as though it was suggested that she needed to leave the house Rena looked a little distant and sad. Obviously there were never any intentions for that to be the case; just as Morgana worked from home Rena would also be given a small study for herself.

"It's because you have heart."

Morgana answered.

"Heart?"

"That's right, it's all about the heart. Even though you've suffered through many tribulations, especially at the hands of humans you've managed to stay pure of heart. If it's you I know you can do a good job of this; so don't worry too much about the technical aspects of the position. For the time being I will take care of all of that, all I want you to do is become the voice for the demons of this city. Tell me what you think would be a good idea in order to facilitate good relations between the two races."

"I... I'm not sure..."

Morgana reassured her with a firm grasp to her shoulders; when she had done all that to convince her, Rena couldn't find it in her heart to deny such optimism. She was still unsure of herself she felt that if the person who trusts her the most is this confident she could at least give it a shot.

"I- I understand. I will take up the position if that is what you think would be best to improve the relationship between the demons and humans of this city."

Morgana smile back at her positive response and seeing that satisfied expression Rena couldn't help but somehow feel that she was being pulled around by the nose this entire conversation. However she didn't feel any malignant intent behind the words of her mistress, only benign optimism and trust towards her. It was just the vote of confidence that she needed to kickstart her new career in politics.
