- Chapter Fourteen -

Mr. Davenport had given everyone the day off, and had taken the students on the their first official field trip to Gettysburg. You, nor Leo wanted to go, so you both decided to just stay at the academy. As you were talking to Leo, Douglas came into the Hydra-loop area, talking on the phone.

"Yes, Donnie, I'll take out the garbage," there was a slight pause as Douglas continued, "No Donnie, I won't experiment on the kids' bionics while they're asleep again."

You and Leo looked up at Douglas as Douglas covered the phone, "It was one time, and you didn't even notice," Douglas then went back on talking on the phone, "Gotta go. Yes, I miss you too." You looked at Douglas weirdly as he said the last part quietly, "Donnie and the students made it to Gettysburg for their fist official field trip."

"Well that's cool," you nodded.

"Bionic kids and cannonballs. What can possibly go wrong?" Leo added sarcastically, as you smiled.

"You both are his students. Why didn't you guys go?" Douglas asked.

"Big D thinks we're there. When he takes the attendance, we paid a kid five bucks to yell 'Here' and another kid ten bucks to yell 'Shut it, Leo'," Leo explained.

"I came up with the genius idea, thank you very much," you spoke, as Douglas looked at you impressed.

Bree then walked in, holding a few books in her hand.

"Oh, hey, Bree. We ditched the field trip so we can hang out with you guys. What should we do on our day off?" Leo asked smiling.

"Our day off? No, this is my day off, and I've already got it planned out. I'm gonna sit by the pool and read a book. I'd ask you to join me, but I live and work with my family, so I'm sick of all of you except [Name]," Bree explained.

"Aww, thank you Bree," you said, smiling smugly at Leo.

Chase then walked by as Leo spoke, "Hey, Chase wanna hang out?"

"Sorry Leo, gotta make the most of my day off. I already organized the weapons vault, alkalized the island's water system, and taught a cute little group of dolphins to wave hello," Chase gestured waving, "Next up, some light reading, oh."

Chase then took a book that Bree was holding, and flipped through all the pages within a few seconds, "She ended up marring the vampire? I did not see that coming," he smiled as Bree snatched the book back.

Adam then came waking in as Leo spoke, "Hey, Adam-"

"No," Adam cut Leo off.

"I didn't even ask you anything yet," Leo stated.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Go ahead," Adam smiled.

"Thank you. Would you like to-"

"No," Adam cut Leo off again as he faced you, Bree, and Chase, "Guys, check out this rock I found on the shore. I had to dig it out from under a wooden box with old yellow coins and jewelry," Adam said, holding up the rock.

You looked closer and realized it wasn't a rock, "Wait a minute."

"Adam, this isn't a rock. It's a fossil. Let me see that," Chase said trying to take it.

"No!"

They played tug-of-war for a few moments, as Chase successfully pulled it away from Adam and set it on the cyber desk. You all gathered around as Chase scanned the fossil.

Chase then looked up at you all excitedly as he spoke, "This is a prehistoric sea spider. It went extinct millions of years ago!"

"Way to go, Chase. You made my rock boring," Adam stated walking away.
