CHAPTER THREE

I stared horrified and watched my mother with wide eyes. "Please, I'm begging you. Don't make me do it."

"Oh Alley, most girls would love this." She sighed, giving me a slight shove towards the door.

"Mum." I stopped. "Have you ever thought that maybe I'm not like most girls?"

She raised her eyebrows at me and gave me one of those stern mum looks. "Alley."

I sighed irritably letting her know my feelings and walked into the room.

It was worse, way worse than what I expected. You know how you have one of those dreams that are really horrifying? Well this was worse.

"You must be Alley." A girl with long blonde hair said, "I'm Jessica. Take a seat."

I closed my eyes for a brief second to mentally prepare myself for this disaster and sat down. Jessica talked to me making small chit chat as she straightened my long black hair, applied eye liner to my face making my brown eyes 'pop' or as my own mother would call it. She also applied red lipstick, fake eyelashes and foundation. I sat there patiently waiting for this all to be done so I could hurry up and leave.

I had left the hospital a few days ago and already my mum was trying to play dress ups with me. Sometimes I really thought that she wished that she had a different daughter who didn't grumble about having photo shoots done. But lucky for me I no longer had the stupid bandage over my head to make myself look more of a bigger fool. Though there was a part of me that wished I could have hit my head harder. Not only because I wanted to escape this moment but because of him. Caleb.

He had stayed with me in the hospital for those weeks; Caleb would come at lunch time (conveniently when my parents had left) and often brought in board games and watched movies with me. When I asked him why he always came after they left his answer was that he didn't like parents, figures.

Every day with him was also a game of 20 questions, he kept asking me dozens of questions about myself like my favourite colour, my favourite band and basically any question he could master up. I hadn't seen him since I had returned home but our parents had become unusually close these last couple of weeks so I figure I'll see him again, it was all just so strange.

Only a few weeks ago I would laugh at the idea of me talking to Caleb Conner's; his personality was what surprised me most though. Sure he was a little up himself but sure if any guy looked like him then you'd have to realise that you were at least a little attractive. It had only been a few days since I'd seen him and already I missed his company. Just thinking of him brought my heart rate speeding.

By the time that Jessica had finished my makeup I was already obsessing over Caleb and when I'd see him next, so not good. I knew Caleb's past there were a lot of girls that he had played and still I wanted to spend time with him? Just admit to yourself Alley, you were starting to grow feelings for the guy. I woke up to reality when Jessica told me to put on a red dress.

I went behind a curtain in the corner and pulled it on. It had no straps but was tight around my waste and puffed out down the rest of my legs. It only went to my knees and had some kind of material under it that itched and made it puff.

I smoothed it out and opened the curtain. My mother was suddenly there and squealed with joy. "Oh honey! You look absolutely beautiful!" She gushed.

I rolled my eyes at her and turned to the long mirror in the centre of the room. I froze.

My long black hair ran past my boobs, the colour of the lipstick matched the dress which fit me perfectly. Too perfectly. I gave my mum a suspicious look.
