Nadatnan naming nakaupo si Lolo Gerardo sa kabisera ng mahabang hapag kainan, sa kanang bahagi nya naman ay nakaupo ang isang taong ni sa hinagap ay hindi ko inaasahang magkakaroon pa ng lakas ng loob na muling tumapak sa villa. My old man was talking but stopped in mid-sentence when Rhian and I came in.

"Hija ..." My grandfather gave me a knowing look but my eyes automatically landed to the unexpected visitor.

"Oh, hello sis. Long time." Nakangiting bati sa'kin ng hindi inaasahang bisita. My face hardened but didn't say a word. "Balita ko nag asawa ka na. Gusto kong magtampo dahil hindi mo man lang ako nakuhang imbitahin."

"Cut the theatrics Rafael, what are you doing here?" I said in a sharp tone.

"I've missed my family ... especially my little sister. And I missed home." His eyes went to Rhian who's still standing beside me and I saw how his smile widen even more. On instinct, my hand snake around on my wife's waist. I'm just glad she didn't resist this time or I'll embarrassed myself in front of everyone. "Is she the wife? Aren't you gonna introduce your big bro?"

"What for?" Marahas na sagot.

He chuckled.

"Oh, come on sis. You haven't change a bit. Still the hard headed little Glaiza." He stood up and walked his way towards us. "Forgive my sister's manners ... I'm Rafael, the older brother." He introduced himself to my wife then extend his hand.

"Rhian, please to meet you." Rhian took Rafael's hand politely.

"Oh, believe me the pleasure's all mine." He's giving Rhian an intense look and instead of a handshake, my asshole-of-a-brother took my wife's hand on his lips and planted a soft kiss on the back of her palm.

Rhian gave him a sweet smile before deliberately pulled her hand from him. Nagtatagis naman ang mga bagang ko sa tinitimping galit dahil sa eksenang nasasaksihan.

"I didn't know Glaiza had a brother." Rhian said, matter of factly.

"Oh, knowing my sister, so secretive. Why I'm not surprised!"

I don't have any idea what he is insinuating but I will not let him get into me again. Not this time around.

"I'm glad you're not surprised. And I don't think I'm better than you when it comes to hiding. Wala pa ding tatalo sayo." I said in full sarcasm.

Nawala ang pagkakangiti ni Rafael at nakipagsukatan ng tingin sa'kin. He's way bigger than me but being terrified was far from what I felt right now. Noon siguro, nung mga bata pa kami. But I already outgrow my fear from him, just like how I outgrow our relationship as siblings. He didn't deserved any respect, lalong lalo na kung manggagaling sa'kin.

Nagpalipat lipat ang tingin ni Rhian sa aming dalawa ni Rafael. Alam kong naguguluhan sya sa mga nasasaksihan.

"Mas mabuti sigurong maghapunan na muna tayo. Masamang pinaghihintay ang pagkain." Si Lolo Gerardo ang pumutol sa namumuong tensyon sa paligid. "Rhian hija, maupo ka na. Maupo na din kayong dalawa."

Rhian obliged silently and so did I. Hangga't maaari, ayokong gumawa ng eksena sa harap ni Lolo at ni Rhian. Kaya kahit mahirap, pinipilit kong magpakahinahon. I saw from my peripheral vision that Rafael also sat down, in his usual seat, at the right side our grandfather. Kahit noong wala na sya sa villa at sinasabi ni Lolo na okupahin ko na ang upuan nya, lagi akong tigas sa pagtanggi. Hindi ko kailanman pinangarap na okupahin ang lugar nya, katulad ng palagi nyang ibinibintang sa'kin simula pa nung magkaisip ako.

"Magtatagal ka ba dito hijo?" Nananantyang tanong ni Lolo Gerardo sa apo, makalipas ang ilang sandali.

"Depende Lolo." Rafael answered after swallowing her food.
