3Gun left Alister and Galina and returned to the saloon. He was not happy with the look on her face both when he showed Alister the deed and especially when he refused it. Now he was stuck with the problem of how to handle the gold business. If he could just lock it in a safe and forget about it he would be happy but too many people knew about it now, and knowing what happened before, he had to prepare for the inevitable.

stannbear and Miss Darkly were in the saloon enjoying a lemonade together . . . at least Miss Darkly seemed to be enjoying it. stannbear looked like a deer in the headlights. He joined them for a drink and told them about Alister and Galina. They switched from lemonade to beer and Miss darkly expressed an acute interest in Galina. Her bounty hunter instincts kicking in. She leaned across and whispered in stannbear's ear. 3Gun shook his head in sympathy and finished his beer.
It turned out Miss Darkly was not whispering sweet nothings, she was revealing her purpose in Busted Gulch and trying to gain stannbear's assistance in accomplishing just that. Seems Ruby had hexed a Mr. Bigbee in Jacksonville and he had offered a bounty for her capture. stannbear was not sure what to do.

Raven had watched the trio at the grave from a distance. 3Gun wandered away and left Alister and Galina alone. Raven was beside himself about Galina and he was not sure what to do. He had to get back to work at the saloon, it was very busy and when he was grabbed by the arm he was surprised to see Crooked Smile who told him to calm down.

As all this was going on, Kae returned to the Gulch, leaving a tragedy behind and vowing to perform her duty in spite of a great loss. She was also after Ruby to prevent any more events as those that took place over Halloween. Kae heard of Miss Darkly and did not hold a very high opinion of her skill. As well she suspected her true motive.
