Chapter 9 – I appreciate it

Everybody left the hall, only me sitting on my seat and staring at the floor. "What are you doing here?" I suddenly heard my auntie's voice. I turned around and saw her staring at me angrily. "He is in jail now, so stop your drama," she said. "Why are you talking like that?" I asked as I clutched into the chain Unni had given me. "Come with me," she said irritated and garbed my hand roughly and dragged me to her house.

As we entered the house, I saw that it was beyond dirty. "First clean that up and prepare dinner afterward" she instructed and I nodded. After five hours, I satisfied with my cleaning laid down on the bed. As soon as my back touched the mattress, my whole body started aching and I couldn't help but gasp in pain.

"Who said that you can rest?" I heard. "I just want to take a short break. I don't need an allowance for that, right?" I voiced. Suddenly, she slapped me on the cheeks and a small tear escaped my eyes. "Don't talk back to me and do the laundry"

Sometimes, it just takes one second to ruin something. The women standing in front of me did exactly that. I didn't mind working for them, being treated like a slave, but she took the last bit of hope I had inside of me and crushed it.

"Get out," I said annoyed. "Mina, why so mean?" she said, trying to sound nice. "Will you leave kindly or do you really want me to call the police?" I wondered. "I just wanted to talk to you, can't I?" she said and passed a smile to me.

"Why don't we forget everybody what has happened and start anew? Wait let's talk inside first" she said and I stood there, my hands on my hips as I looked at her unamused. "You really don't want to leave, right?" She looked at me pleadingly, but I felt no sympathy. "Why are you talking so rudely?"

I turned around and met the eyes of non-other than Kim Jonghyun, who was looking at me confused. "Are you Mina's friend?" she asked and he nodded. "See, this girl isn't even talking to me properly. Why don't you help me out a bit?" she asked. How much will she keep pretending?

"Why would I?" he asked. "I know that she is heartless, but she only talks rudely to two kinds of people. The one she actually hates, may I add that a very few people fit into this category or the one she actually cares about but pretends not to like them by being rude. Why she does that, is a mystery to myself till date" he finished and I couldn't help but smile.

"And you definitely seem like someone she hates" he finished with a serious look on his face. "You have some rude friends," she said and finally put aside her façade. "He is just like you, a good for nothing"

"Don't you dare to say anything about him" I exclaimed angrily and Jonghyun looked at me surprised. "Oh, so you care about him?" she asked entertained. "You better leave now, before I do something against you" Jonghyun stepped in and showed her a card. She looked at it and suddenly looked down. "This is not over yet"

After that, she left. "What did you show her?" I questioned. "Just my father's business card. For once, it actually helped me" he said with a sigh. "Anyway, I didn't know that you'd get so angry because she said something against me," he said amused and wiggled his eyebrows. "Be quite," I said as I scratched my head.

I opened the door to get in, but strangely he entered too. "You know that I didn't invite you inside?" I stated and he grinned. "But I don't really care," he said and made himself cozy on the sofa. "I actually came back because you left your phone in the car" he explained and took out my phone from his pocket. "Oh. Thanks"
