One warm autumn day a young man sat under a walnut tree observing his pumpkin vines. "How foolish God is!" he mused. "He puts a heavy pumpkin on a tiny vine that has no strength and hangs tiny walnuts on a tree whose branches can hold the weight of a man. If I were God, I could do better than that!" Just then a breeze dislodged a walnut and it fell on his head. Gently rubbing the point of impact, a sadder and wiser fellow remarked, "Suppose there had been a pumpkin up there instead of a walnut! Never again will I try to plan a world for God, but I shall thank him that He has done well."

Creation is a marvel of design and order. Take, for instance - the flower. God bestows life upon each plant, and every moment He keeps it performing a certain work according to His design. Some are prepared to resist diseases. Some can grow on the burning sand of the desert, others 'neath the cooling shade of trees. Some thrive in the fertile valleys, others on the rocky ledges of the mountains. Some flourish in moisture, others in dryness; some rest in the heat, others in the cold. Also, consider the animals. Just as God has adapted each plant to its particular surroundings, so He furnishes each animal with the necessary qualifications to cope with its environment.

God made the polar bear a coat all white just like the snow

So he could go about and quite hidden from his hoe.

The tiger didn't get his stripes by chance, I'll tell you true;

He's made that way so he can hide in the thickets of bamboo.

The lion has a brownish coat - right wisely too 'tis planned;

He needs but crouch quite still to seem part of the desert sand.

The parrot lives in the tropic lands where trees are always green;

And that is why his feathers are of such a verdant sheen.

Although the little green tree frog is very small and meek,

He's dressed to play with anyone the game of hide and seek.

Now surely God was wise and good to take such special care

That all His living creatures should have just what's best to wear.
