A party of scientists and botanists were exploring certain almost inaccessible regions of the Alps in search of a new species of flowers. One day they spied through a field glass a flower of such rarity and beauty that its value to science was incalculable. however, it lay deep in a ravine which had perpendicular cliffs on both sides. In order to obtain this rare plant, someone would have to lowered over the sheer drop-off by means of a rope - a very dangerous undertaking. a lad who was curiously watching nearby, was approached by them. They suggested, "We'll give you five dollars if you will let us lower you to the valley below so that you can obtain that rare flower for us." The youngster took a long look at the dizzy depths and then replied, "Just a minute - I'll be right back." So saying, he ran away.  A little later he returned, followed by an older man. Approaching one of the botanists, he said, "I'll go over the cliff and get that flower for you if this man holds h rope. He's my father."

I wonder, have you and I learned to trust the Lord like that? If anyone else held the rope, you and I might well fear to go on, but since Jesus is holding us fast, we should never entertain any doubts at all, or give into our fears. Oh, that God might give us the faith of this little lad who was willing to say, "If my father holds the rope, I shall not fear."

Christ is no security against storms,

But He is a perfect security in them;

He does not promise an easy passage,

But He does guarantee a safe landing!
