The Baby Sitter

The following evening, Cara walks up to his house and knocks on the front door, a bit earlier than expected. Amy answers the door and just stares at Cara, "Hello" Cara smiles.

"Oh you're the baby sitter Raf hired" Amy replies.
Cara nods and Amy invites her in "Sorry I didn't catch your name" She adds.

"It's Cara" She smiles.

"I'm Amy, please take your shoes off we have just had new carpet" Amy says.

Cara nods and takes her shoes off and then follows Amy through to the lounge which is a little too perfect for having a child. Cara notices Raf and smiles, "Baby sitter is here" Amy says to Raf.

"Okay" He smiles.

She sits herself down and looks around the room, "Right I'll get Emily" Amy says.

Once Amy goes Raf looks over at Cara and gives a small smile, "How are you doing?" Raf asks.

"Alright, just booked myself some time off to go on holiday" Cara smiles.

"Going anywhere nice?" He questions.

"Morocco" Cara tells him.

"Lovely going with family or anyone?" He asks.

"Just myself" She replies.

Raf smiles at her, "So as Serena asked you about that conference in Malaysia yet?" Cara asks.

"She did say something, but she said she'll talk to me more about it tomorrow" he smiles.

"It seems only me and Dr Burrows are doing so far" Cara says.

Raf laughs and looks up to see Amy with Emily. Cara stands up and smiles at Emily, she looks over at Raf. "Emily, this is Cara, she's going to be looking after you this evening. Say hello" Raf says to Emily.

"Hello" Cara smiles cheerfully.

Emily tries to hide behind Amy but Amy pushes her forwards. "Careful" Raf says as Amy pushes Emily with a bit too much force.

"Hey you" Cara says as she crouches down next to her.

Emily looks at her "Now no sweets, only water, bathed and in bed by nine please" Amy says to Cara.

"Okay" Cara smiles, Raf rolls his eyes and kisses Emily goodnight.

Emily hugs Raf tightly, "Come on that's enough" Amy says as she splits up the hug.

Raf smiles and mouths 'sorry' to Cara as he leaves.

Cara smiles and shuts the door as they leave and goes back through to Emily, "Hi Emily" Cara smiles happily while Emily stands behind the sofa just staring at Cara.

She shakes her head and sucks her thumb while staring at Cara, "Shall we play a game?" Cara asks, Emily shrugs and watches Cara looks through Emily's board games. "Come on, I won't bite" Cara smiles.

Emily moves from behind the sofa and sits on the floor and watches Cara get a few games out.

Later on that evening, Cara and Emily are sat playing Guess Who, Raf has text Cara to see how Emily is doing. Cara reads her message and replies with 'Good actually, she's finally talking to me :)'

'That's good' Raf smiles with.

Cara smiles as she reads the last message and looks up at Emily, Emily look at her "So what shall we do now?" Cara asks as she packs the board games away.

Emily shrugs "So what do you usually do?" Cara asks.

She shrugs again and just sits on the floor while Cara puts the games away, "Is everyone okay sweetie?" Cara ask.

"I want my Daddy" Emily mumbles with her thumb in her mouth.

"Do you want a hug?" Cara asks.

"No, I want my Daddy" she replies.

"What about your mummy?" Cara asks.

"No, Daddy!" Emily says.

"Okay Shall I call him for you?" Cara questions curiously.

"No I want him here" Emily cries.

Cara smiles at Emily, Later on Cara has Emily bathed and ready for bed. She sits Emily down on her bed and starts to brush her hair, Emily sits quietly with her teddy bear in her lap, "You've got lovely hair" Cara smiles.

"You're nice" Emily smiles.

"Why thank you" Cara replies.

Cara smiles happily "Would you like me to plait your hair?" she asks Emily.

"Oh yes please" Emily beams.

Cara smiles and finds some hair bands before beginning to plait her hair.
"Mummy doesn't like my hair like this" Emily sighs.

"Well I can take it out before bed" Cara replies.

"You're very pretty" Emily smiles.

"So are you" Cara smiles as she ties her plait off.

Emily smiles as Cara plaits her hair, "Do you have a baby?" Emily asks.

"No" Cara smiles.

"Why?" Emily says curiously.

"I just don't" She smiles.

"Can I come live with you?" Emily says.

"No sorry darling" Cara replies.

"Why?" Emily sighs.

"Because you need to stay with your Mummy and Daddy" Cara replies.

"Can you keep a secret?" Emily asks.
Cara nods and waits for Emily's reply, "I don't like Mummy, she's mean" Emily says.

"Oh? But she's your Mummy" Cara replies.

"She shouts and hurts me" She says quietly.

Cara raises an eyebrow and looks at Emily, "What do you mean Darling?"
"Shush, Mummy might hear" Emily says.

"Mummy isn't home yet" Cara says but Emily doesn't reply to her. "Would you like a hug?" Cara asks, Emily nods so Cara hugs her.

"Mummy bruised my arm" She says.

"oh?" Cara says and Emily frowns at her, Cara gives her a small smile. Emily gets off Cara's lap and clambers under the covers, Cara looks at the time and smiles "Right bed time" Cara says.

Emily lays down in her bed and looks up at Cara who tucks her in, "Do you want a story?" Cara questions.
Cara smiles at her and gets a book, She reads the story to Emily who quickly falls asleep. Cara places the book back and leaves the room and leaving the door closed too.
