I miss you terribly, while you're forever away at 'boarding school'. I truly do hope you're enjoying yourself, but you should know something before you find out too late.
Mother is worried sick ever since your encounter in the streets last week. Papa won't leave his office. You've finally stumped him with something he can't explain. The guilt is hurting him more than it had before, as if he won't come to terms with your sudden demise. He believes it was his own wrongdoing that you were shot in the duel so suddenly.
I really do wish you'd return home, my dear Philip. I am anxious to meet this girl you are courting, as she seems charming from the way you've described her in your previous letters. Hold close to her, she may very well be your saving grace, from your temper and your ambitions.
