Chapter 38

I woke up feeling worse than ever. Dahil mukhang mas lalo lang yatang lumala ang sakit na naramdaman ko kagabi.

Nang magising ako ay wala na si Leander sa tabi ko. Agad akong napabalikwas mula sa pagkakahiga and I felt a sudden pang of pain because of what I did.

I let out a soft cry when I felt the pain on my back worsened. Mukhang masama nga talaga yata ang pagkakatapon sa 'kin kagabi. Fucking hell.

"Hey. Are you okay?" Rinig kong tanong nang kapapsok lamang na si Leander.

I clenched my jaw at napapikit na lamang sa sakit na aking iniinda. But I can't tell him that I'm in pain. He might start to wonder where I got it. Imposible namang nahulog ako sa higaan.

"I-I'm fine." I managed to give him a reply, but I sounded totally not fine. Contrary to what I'm claiming to be.

"You don't look like you're fine." Pagpupumilit pa niya.

Our flight will be later at 9 in the morning. Alas sais pa lamang ng umaga. Mabuti na lang at naayos ko na ang aking maleta kagabi when I changed into my sleeping attire.

"Ayos lang ako. Leander." He was about to approach me but he stopped when he heard my tone.

Kitang-kita ko ang pag-aalala sa kaniyang mukha. His hands were slightly raised in the air, he probably wants to hold and check on me. But he's stopping himself from doing so.

Napabuga ako nang malalim na hininga. Frustrated at myself. Hindi naman 'to kasalanan ni Leander so I shouldn't treat him this way. Wala na ngang ibang ginawa sa 'kin 'yong tao kung 'di ang mag-alala sa kalagayan ko.

"I'm sorry, it's just that akala ko magiging maayos na ang pakiramdam ko pero mukhang mas lumala pa yata." I apologized.

He sat at the edge of the bed at matamlay akong tinignan.

"I'm sorry you couldn't enjoy your stay here with me. You even mentioned that this was your first time in a long while to take a break from work. Tapos ngayon nagkasakit ka pa. I couldn't even take care of you."

He really has a disturbing habit of blaming himself for everything. And technically, this isn't even considered as a break from work. Dahil nagtatrabaho pa rin ako.

"It's not your fault that I get sick easily. Can you stop blaming yourself for the things you have no control over with? And besides, sinong nagsabing hindi ako nag-enjoy? The garden was beautiful, the whole place is. I wouldn't even think of coming here in the first place if it weren't for you."

I want to cut his habit off. Iyong sinisisi niya ang kaniyang sarilisa lahat ng bagay kahit na hindi naman siya direktang naaapektuhan.

"You don't have to mention it. It was my honor to have you as my date for the party last night." Nakangiti niyang sagot sa akin.

We locked gaze as he said those words and as I watch him do it. He was staring intently into my eyes, na parang ayaw niyang bumitaw. I could clearly tell what he's feeling. Leander's such an open book.

"We should have our breakfast now. Kailangan pa nating mag-ayos para sa flight mamaya." I diverted the topic bago pa ito umabot sa kung saan-saan man.

I forced myself to stand up at tinahak ang daan papuntang closet. Kumuha ako ng susuotin kong damit at dinala ang mga ito sa banyo.

I need a cold shower. Baka sakaling mabawasan ang sakit na nararamdaman ko sa aking katawan.

When I was done taking a cold bath, I changed into my white highwaist skort and paired it with a white knitted long sleeve cardigan.
