I was entering a room in the hospital on my last round. I went to a room I had never came across and I opened the door. There sat a old couple faintly familiar watching television as I walked by. The wife name was Marbel Dione and her husband, the patient was Tonie Dione. The couple smiled at me sweetly and they lowered the volume allowing me to speak.
"Hi, I'm Ebony Michaels. I'm volunteering here at hospital for today. I want to know if you two need anything to let me know. I'll be off shifts in fifteen minutes. I can bring you ice, maybe a snack that's been approved by the nurses, anything."
"Why thank you dear. We don't need anything for now." Mrs. Dione said. I smiled sweetly as I could. I remembered that they are the couple that Xavier and I argued in front of the room when Erix was at the hospital when he got in that stupid car accident. How ironic. I waved goodbye to the old couple and went back to the nurse station. I quickly looked over Mr. Dione's clipboard and found out that he has lung cancer. He's been in the hospital for two years already and the last recent doctor's note it said :Might not make to November. I closed the clipboard and put it back on the shelf. It was heart breaking.
I walked to the elevator passing by their room. All I could remember was what Xavier had said and how evil I was leaving him in the rain as I got on the bus. I should of waited. Then again...what happened to that bus driver? I never saw him again. I was walking down towards the bus stop when Josh's car pulled up. The old red Honda had a new scratch by the wheel and one of the windows was slightly cracked. Josh's rolled down the windows, unlocking the door for me. I raised an eyebrow waiting for an explanation.
"We're going to the movies. I'm going to go pick up X now." I opened the passenger door and took out my IPod. Not the one he gave me though. I'm actually saving that IPod just for an emergency.
"Which movie?" I asked.
"They are showing The Breakfast Club again for a dollar." Josh said.
"Really? Not a new movie?"
"What? You want to pay about nine dollars for a new movie? Hell nah, I won't let you."
"You're so cheap." I laughed. Josh smiled wryly. He stopped for gas and as soon Josh got out to go pay, Xavier opens the door and sits at the back. I turned around startled. He looked different today. he had a red mark on his cheek and a slight cut on his eyebrow. What happened?
"Did you get attack by a chicken or?"
"It's none of your business." Xavier said harshly. I blinked and sunk back down the seat and decided to put on a earphone. What was with that attitude?
Josh came back. he waved at Xavier when he saw him.
"Sorry. I didn't mean it that way." Xavier said.
"It's fine. I was just curious." I looked at the passing cars.
"It's not important. That's all."
"Hey, Angie and Gabe already got us tickets." Josh hopped in. He looked at us and gave me that explain to me later look. Out of all people except for Angie, Josh actually approves of my crush. Only recently he told my aunt and she had a huge panic attack. Sometimes, Aunt Gomez can over react a little. She was freaking out as if I was getting married.
"Are they there yet?" I asked.
"Hello! Earth to Remy!" Josh calls me Remy from Ratatouille because apparently I cook good food and I dream a lot. Josh doesn't call me Remy all the time.
"Just a question duh." I slapped his head. In a couple of minutes we were at the theater with Angie and Gabe waiting outside.
"Why are they acting all awkward lately?" Xavier asked.
