Halloween already passed by, by then. I did not want to dress up, i never really dressed up Halloween only when Angie makes me to. For this year, Angie made me dress up like Hippie with her. Gabe dressed up like a pirate and we all went trick o treating down at Old Range with Josh and the twins. I can't simply say that I had fun. I was still in denial of my own emotions. No joke, i did feel like a piece of shit but I knew better than to shut out everyone around me. the only thing i would do is just make them worry and i have no time to pick up the pieces. I'm Volunteering at the hospital, I'm working on my College papers and Essay plus I'm too busy being a Captain whose team mates keeps disobeying. COach Benny alreayd put me on the bench for two games for the sake of the team. I really did not like where this was going,
But still...After Highschool I'm so getting out of this town, this city, this state, I want to find a place for myself and hopefullly make a life with someone who accepts me for me and my own unique personality. Maybe I'll head to New York or maybe Maine. I just want to leave California. I'm sick of it.
Well to tell you, Halloween ended up alright with Johnny getting a sack full of HUGE Crush candy bars. Jena was incredibly jealous that she stole five of them making each of the twins lose their candy. Josh took them away and began to eat one in the car as we drove back. The twins cried and cried,
"Shut up! You guys are eight? nine? Act like normal beings!" Josh said with his mouthfull. Eventually the twins stopped crying.
Before Gabe dropped me off at my place, he dropped off Josh and the twins in his mom's van. I found Aunt Gomez sitting outside witha smoke in her hand and a empty bowl of candy. I looked at Josh immediately to explain what was going on exactly. Aunt Gomez wasn't one of those people who smokes...actually...I don't recall her EVER smoking.
"It's dad." Josh whispered in my ear as the twins waited for him by the gate. "I'm sure they got in a phone fight."
"Do you happen to know why?" I asked.
"I think he's transferring to Brazil. He got the promotion." My eyes widened fromm the excitement. Good for Uncle Edgar! He's been wanting to be General for ages now! and he finally got it. But...He would leave my aunt and the kids back and would hardly visit. Talking about seeing him twice a year or something like that. I don't know how the whole miltary thing works out but i do know that these men stay away from their families for a long time.
"That's good! I mean, well good for him but..." I couldn't meet my dear cousin's eyes. They were all clouded with water.
"I know." He kissed my cheek and headed towards his house. Angie and Gabe stared at me before we got going. I shook my head and looked out the window,
"There's no words to what I feel right now."
It was November already. Time was passing by fast. As fast as it went, i realized fast enough how fast i was already part of Erix's life. No matter how invisible i was ,I was there. I hate knowing that. I never intended to be part of that life. I was a jock. A jock my whole life even as i played the 'whore' part right now. I understand a bit why Erix tried to push me away from his life. He probably did not want me to get more involved in that business. The more i think of it the more i understand that I'm such a fool. Did i really think i could of block myself away from them? I have a freaking popular brother that for all I know, Michael Jordan could know him! He's all over the place.
But still...I'm just Ebony living through highschool trying to push back my past and trying to create a brighter future. I'm just busy with College papers and essay, busy with the team eventhough more than half of them listen to me like i said before, Coach Benny had pulled me out on the bench just for the sake of the team. We've only won one game so far in the past month and that's bad. The boys on the other hand are booming with success because of their team captain Xavier! Ugh! How i wish he could just disappear out of the blue. His presence mocks especially since Kaya had found her way to get to him.
