Tonight I was allowed special permission to leave the training school for my brother's graduation from fire training. There was a graduation followed by a party back at my parents home, I was excited to see all my family and some old friends.

Sergeant Andrew's dropped me outside the fire training school he almost kicked me out of the vehicle with no small talk. As I walked up to the large building looking for the signs for the main entrance, I was quietly excited inside to see my brother and my parents. I found the large hall and searched the crowd until I caught my mum's eye. I saw her face light up as she came running towards me.

"Alex, I'm so happy to see you. Come here and give your mum a big hug,"

We hugged for a little too long then I kissed her on the cheek.

"Let's find our seat mum" As we found our seats my dad rushed in at the last minute. The ceremony flew by quickly and we all clapped as we watched Lucas receive his badge and get his next assignment. He got to stay in our city (London) so my parents were thrilled.

The next minute we were at home celebrating. I walked through my old home touching paintings and ornaments as I passed by, I reached my old bedroom. It had been a few months since I was here last. Mum hadn't touched it, only to clean everything still placed exactly how I left it. I felt strangely grown up like this was my childhood bedroom and I was an adult visiting.

I sat on my bed for a while then jumped up to get a drink, I needed a drink to help me socialize with old family and friends mostly my parent's friends and brothers friends. I hated these kinds of events. Zoe loved a good party, putting her face full of makeup on and being loud, whereas I liked to keep myself to myself, the fewer people around me the better. I guess I've always been a little bit of a loner, enjoying my own company.

As I walked to the kitchen, I pressed firmly on the fridge button, the fridge swung open and I grabbed the first bottle of wine I could see. After a glass, I was feeling much more sociable. Everyone asked me the same few questions all about peacekeeper school. Lucas's friends were playing darts in the boy's room so I joined them for a bit of fun, as I walked in his friends whistled. They were so childish, they liked to tease him and wind him up and it worked every time.

"Lucas your sister is all grown up mate,"

"She's looking hot tonight" My face went slightly red,

"Right who's going to get whooped at darts?"

I quickly changed the subject. I was having fun with the boys, just as I was mid-throw with the dart Ollie walked in and I totally missed the dart board and nearly hit Lucas in the ear with a dart.

"Are you crazy Alex?"

"Sorry, Lucas I wasn't concentrating" Ollie laughed and came over to hug me.

It felt funny as it had been so long it felt like we were in some kind of argument. He hadn't really changed apart from a tan.

I tried to act normal like I had only seen him yesterday.

"It's been ages Alex, I heard from your mum you were coming tonight so I thought I would gatecrash to see you, why haven't you returned any of my messages?"

"Come on Ollie I'm so busy, this is the first time I've seen my brother in nearly 4 months" Ollie grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the room to my old bedroom.

"Alex, you can do better than that, busy! Come on I'm busy working at the shipyard but I still try. Am I an inconvenience to you now?" I stared at his face, and how his brow crinkled when he was angry.
