Sorry that the last couple of updates haven't been actual parts, but it has been something so much better (and the reason for all the updates being out of whack!) Hades' Daughter is getting published! Argh! If you didn't already know then go and check out the last couple of parts on Hades' Daughter! :) I have made a couple of announcements so far and more are to come. There will be a chance to get free bonus material!

I spear a strawberry as I stare down my dad. The breakfast arrived two minutes after my dad ordered for it, and that was five minutes ago. In those seven minutes the room has been silent, and I've refused to say a word to my dad. He lets out an exasperated sigh.

"Let's start easy. What did you and Adrian talk about last night?" I glare down at another strawberry, stabbing it harder than was needed. I told myself that I wouldn't allow myself to be weak again, and by bringing up Adrian and what ensued, I will fail before I have really started. I decide to keep my answers short, and give him something to maybe alleviate his questions.

"His treachery," I supply.

"He was, and is, innocent," he responds.

"I know that," I retort, knowing if I did anything else I would crumple into a mess again. I tortured an innocent man. I went over the top and didn't care that he was innocent until proven guilty. He was guilty in my eyes. I am no better than Kyle. At the thought my mind flashes to the torture I endured. "I made a hug fucking mistake, OK; you don't need to tell me."

"Scarlett," my dad says in a serious tone, "Kyle had us all fooled. He wanted you to not believe Adrian; he wanted you to turn on him."

"Yes, but he didn't make me accuse him again yesterday," I mutter, dropping my fork onto my plate.

"What do you mean?" he asks.

"Nothing," I say with a sigh. His eyes search my face.

"OK, I want to know what Kyle did to you to make you feel like you have to put this wall up to everyone, including me," he orders, with no room for argument.

"What didn't he do?" I scoff. "You really want to know dad? He made me feel weak, like I was a worthless, puny human. But you wouldn't know what that feels like, because Hades is never seen as weak. You're a god. You don't know what it's like to be human," I lash out at him, as I push my chair back with enough force that it's knocked onto the floor. Shock is clear in my dad's eyes, and I quickly look away when I begin to see hurt creep into them. I didn't mean any of what I said, but now more than ever I want someone human to understand what I'm going through. My dad is great, but he's never experienced what it feels like to be a human. He's always been a god, and he always will. I turn my back on him.

"Nice talk dad, but I think it's time I get to work," I tell him before teleporting up to my room.

*^*^*

I roll my eyes as I click the sorted button for the thousandth time. I forgot how boring it could get at Styx Lake.

"Next!" I call. My time here has had some of the effect I wanted. I have found myself forgetting about Kyle, and the emotional breakdown I had last night after Adrian, but it's not made me as emotionless as I was before. I look up and find the old man from Hunter's apartment complex, Mr. Perkins, standing in front of me. He's exactly as I remembered him: messy white hair, tanned wrinkled skin, and a judging look in his eyes. I have no idea if he will remember me, as he only saw me once.

"Hey Mr. Perkins," I greet with a grin. His bushy eyebrows pull together as he undoubtedly tries to remember where he's seen my face before. Moments later, realization dawns on his face.

"Where am I? What am I doing here?" he inquires, his voice gruff.

"Happy death-day," I say with a smile. His eye widen from their permanent narrowed state to wide orbs of shock.

"What are you doing here?"

"I'm the daughter of Hades," I whisper. His eyes immediately change to a horrified expression. I flash him a grin.

"First name please," I say.

"Jim," he gives, his eyes still trained on me in horror. I enter his name, finding that he will be going to Olympus.

Here you go!
