My summer ended just like that. Time flew so fast.

The remaining days of my summer were spent with Eric and some of our friends.

So they also found out that we were officially a couple.

Of course we earned a few good interrogations here and there, like when did I realize I liked him or have we done it already, but we survived.

I smiled as I was writing on my notebook again.

This time, I was writing all the good experiences I’ve had throughout the year.

The trees were dancing along with the warm relaxing wind.

It was very peaceful.

It was a good afternoon and it’s been two months since I was in senior high.

The autumn season was already upon us.

Classes were over and I was just waiting for Eric to finish the juniors’ tryouts for football.

“Hey Kate, sorry I took so long,” Eric ran to me.

“Its fine, I kind of liked it here anyway,” I smiled at him and hid my notebook.

“Geez you never show me what’s inside that,” he pointed to the notebook I just hid.

I stuck my tongue out, “It’s personal.”

“Like a diary?” he took my bag and we started walking out of school. It was a routine for him to carry my stuff so I just let him anyway.

“Maybe?” I shrugged.

We continued to talk about random things on the way home and then I saw a familiar man standing near my front door.

“Mr. Hills?” I blinked while I saw him looking worried. Mr. Hills was my grandmother’s attorney. “Is something wrong?”

“You’re grandmother is currently in…” he tried to choose his words but even if he didn’t, I understood.

“Where is she now?” I clenched my fists; I prayed that it wasn’t too late.

Then I felt Eric take my hand which made me relax a bit.

“She’s currently in the usual hospital. She’s unstable though, so she’s in the ICU.” Mr. Hills fixed his glasses.

“Okay thanks, Eric I’ll go to my grandmother now,” I turned to look at Eric and he nodded.

“I’ll come along,” he said while looking at me with concern.

I just nodded.

“Let’s take my car then,” Mr. Hills led us to his car and we drove to where my grandmother was.

I was in the waiting area. The doctor hasn’t come out yet. But a nurse explained my grandmother had another heart attack, it was twice this month.

I closed my eyes tightly and clasped my hands, “Please make her safe.”

I felt warm arms embrace me, “He will always do what is good,” Eric whispered.

I nodded. I felt weak and worried. If Eric weren’t here I don’t know what I would do.

I heard the door swing open, “Miss Kate?” the doctor approached me.

I stood up straight and approached him, “What is it doctor?”

“She’s stable for now, but we don’t know what might happen. So we’re still making her stay here until we finished running the tests to make sure she’s okay,” he said. But somewhere in his voice I heard a tone of despair.
