TARGET NAME: LAURENT ROUSSEAU
AGE: ????

(Y/N) shook her head as she stuffed the photograph in her pocket. She sat on the roof of the (RED/BLU) Base, searching for any signs of her target. A door opened underneath her and slowly, (Y/N) grabbed her knife. She prepared to attack as a shadow came closer. Soon, the Sniper walked out. She sighed and put her knife back.
The Sniper walked over to the side of the building and pulled out a cigarette. (Y/N) grinned and she quickly jumped down the roof, landing perfectly onto the ground. She snuck over to the open door and peeked inside.
There were six mercenaries inside, including her target: The Spy. The Medic, Engineer, Demoman, and Spy were all playing poker while the Pyro sat at the Engineer's feet, the Heavy watched from behind Medic while also ignoring the Scout next to him.

The Spy smirked as he placed his cards on the table. "I win," he said. Immediately, the table erupted in groans. Spy chuckled as he got up and checked his watch. (Y/N) could barely make out a small smile on his face. "Well, gentlemen, I'm afraid I must go. I have business to attend to in my reading room."

Business? (Y/N) wondered. Is he meeting with one of the others? I have to be careful.
"Probably meeting with another friggin woman," Scout commented. Spy turned to Scout and rolled his eyes at him.

"Well, at least I've had a woman fall for me before. The only woman who'll ever love you will be your mother." And with saying that, Spy disappeared down the hallway.

(Y/N) looked down at her map of the base and searched for the Spy's reading room. Based on the floor plans for the base, there was a single window in the room. While that may be the loudest way in, it was also the easiest. "I just want to get this job over with." She examined the map for a second before putting it away.

She began to sneak down the stairs when she heard a gasp from the side. She turned around to see the Sniper staring at her. (Y/N) quietly cursed to herself before bring out her knife and charging at him.

The Sniper pulled out his kukri and blocked the attack. (Y/N) kicked him in his crotch, causing him to stumble back, before pushing him down to the ground. Quickly, she slit his throat and watched as the life drained from his eyes. "Damnit," she murmured. "I said I wouldn't kill any more innocents on my missions."

"Hey! Did any of you guys here dat?" Scout asked. (Y/N) looked down at the body and shook her head. She quickly ran to the side of the building, climbed a dumpster bin, and jumped onto the roof.

That ought to keep them busy for now at least...
(Y/N) walked on the roof, knife in her hand, and looked for the spot Spy's reading room was at.
After a couple of minutes of looking, she found it. It was a small window, but it wasn't impossible to go through. (Y/N) looked inside of the window and saw Spy sitting in a chair, reading a book.

Of course, he's reading a book. He'd always read a book at the end of the day, (Y/N) recalled. (Y/N) took a deep breath and put her knife back. She grabbed the edge of the roof and began to climb down. Her body barely made it down to the window. She swung her body until it crashed into the window. She quickly let go and flew into Spy's room. Her knife flew out of her pocket and into her hand. (Y/N) expected Spy to already be on his toes, ready to attack. However, he just sat in his chair, not even flinching.

Spy closed his book. "Hello, (Y/N). I'm glad you could make it." (Y/N) let out a small gasp.

"How did you-?"

"Oh, please. Who else would make such a dramatic entrance like that?" Spy got up and walked over to his bar. He began to pour some wine into a glass.

(Y/N) frowned. "You know what I'm here for, don't you?" Spy took a sip from his glass before putting it down.

"Ah, yes, of course I do." He reached his hand into his suit. "But, I won't let you do it." He took out his revolver and aimed it at the assassin. (Y/N) quickly tried to jump out of the way, but, the bullet pierced her leg. She hid behind Spy's chair. "I'm not going to let you dispose of me!"

"You of all people know I have to, Laurent! I can't go back unless I kill you!" She took out her own gun from her shirt and aimed it at the Spy. She shot at his head, but, the Spy managed to duck from her view.

Spy quickly took out his dead ringer and got back up to shoot (Y/N). "(Y/N), listen, I just want to-"

He swiftly took a bullet to the head.

(Y/N) took deep breaths as she watched her old friend fall to the ground, dead. It was over. She finished the job. Her eyes began to tear up, but (Y/N) quickly wiped the tears away. She put her weapons back and began to limp her way to the window.

Suddenly, a pair of hands grabbed her from behind. (Y/N) nearly cried out from the shock. Spy almost immediately materialized behind her. He pinned her to the ground, making sure she couldn't move an inch. "How are you alive?? I killed you! I..." Spy flipped (Y/N) over so she was facing him. How could she have failed? It should have been impossible. "Laurent...You know what'll happen if you don't let me finish this. They said so in training. Either you die or I die..please...just let me finish my job..."

"I am. You already finished it," he told her. Before (Y/N) had a chance to speak up, he continued to explain everything to her. "I'm the one who hired you to kill me. I asked for you myself. I just wanted to see you again..." He put his hand on her cheek. "It's so nice to see you again."

(Y/N)'s eyes widened. "Laurent...what are you talking about? I don't understand." Spy got up and sat down next to (Y/N).

"Do you remember fifteen years ago? When we were at assassin training together?"

"Of course," (Y/N) responded, sitting up as well.

"They tried breaking us down so much. They tried to make us feel nothing. It was hard. However, I... " - Spy sighed - "I always had feelings for you during that time. We were always looking out for each other and after feeling so alone, it was nice to see that someone had at least cared about me. " (Y/N) sat there in silence. "I would have told you, but if they had found out, then it would have been harder on both of us. So, I kept it silent."

(Y/N) frowned. "Why are you telling me this? What was the point of all of this? It's not like you...no...are you being serious?"

"(Y/N), I've been doing some thinking, and I know you might be completely different now, but, I realized that I still care about you."

"Laurent, it's been ten years since I've last seen you," (Y/N) reminded him.

"I know, but still. I love you, (Y/N). I want to get you out of this horrible job. The job where only one person can come out alive. If I could get out of that life, then so can you. Please, (Y/N). Stay here with me. We can catch up on all the lost time we've had. I can introduce you to the others. I'm sure they won't mind having you around." (Y/N) sighed.

"You always were a little stubborn back then," she said. "I guess there's at least some parts of you that haven't changed." She put her hand on Spy's. "I honestly don't want to live this life either. I don't want to die." She felt tears in her eyes. "It's so nice to see you, too. It scared me whenever I killed you. You were always the last person I ever thought that I would kill. I guess I care about you too, huh?" (Y/N) wiped the tears from her eyes and looked up at Spy. "I'll stay, Laurent. I'll stay here with you. "

Spy smiled.

"Thank you, (Y/N). I love you." (Y/N) smiled back as she leaned onto Spy's shoulder.

'I love you too, Laurent."
