{"It was you the whole time."}

{"I can't stop thinking about the future. About our future. Do we even have one or should I just move on?"}

Y/N was slightly nervous as she heard the door being opened, indicating that Max was home again. Normally, she would run towards him and jump right into his arms, but it just wasn't feeling right between the two of them anymore lately, for her at least.

"Y/N!" The Dutchman called out, a small smile playing on his lips as he placed his bag on the ground before walking into the living room, where he saw her waiting for him.

She wasn't sure if he had even noticed that something was different in their relationship, that she wasn't as happy as she used to be whenever they were together.

Making up excuses to not follow him to his next race was her way of dealing with everything, her way of getting time for herself to think. It wasn't like she didn't care for him or love him anymore, but it was still feeling different.

Y/N was pulled out of her thoughts as Max wrapped his arms around her waist, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek.

"I'm very proud of you," She stated, causing his eyes to lighten up slightly as the memories of his win in Mexico were still fresh in his mind.

"I wish you could have been there."

After placing a soft kiss on her lips, he wandered towards the couch and quickly laid down, exhaustion taking over him from the long flight and the hard training.

Sighing, she ran a hand through her y/h/c hair, watching him, while he had closed his eyes, almost making it seem like he was sleeping.

She wanted to talk to him about it so badly, but she was afraid it might seem like she was giving up on their relationship if she mentioned it.

"Maybe this is all in your head," She silently told herself, but immediately shook her head because she knew that it wasn't the truth.

Frowning, the young woman leaned forward to softly shake her boyfriend's shoulder, which caused him to open his eyes again. They were still filled with love whenever he looked at her, however she never noticed it anymore.

"Max," She whispered, earning a quiet humming from him in return, "We need to talk."

The formula one driver lifted his eyebrows at her words before slowly sitting up to be able to look into her eyes.

Y/N took in a shaky breath after turning her attention from the ground towards him.

"I can't stop thinking about the future. About our future. Do we even have one or should I just move on?"

Although her voice was barely louder than a whisper, Max had heard ever single word, causing his eyes to go wide.

He immediately reached forward to take her hand, his eyes locking with hers and his heart picking up its speed. "What are you talking about?"

"You can't tell me you didn't notice it, Max, it doesn't feel the same anymore."

The Dutchman felt his heart aching in his chest as he saw a few tears rolling down her cheek. Without hesitating he leaned forward, placing his other hand on her cheek and wiping the tears away, letting his hand rest there afterwards.

"I noticed that you've acted different lately, but I can assure you that nothing has changed for me. I'm still more than sure that I want to spend my entire future with you," He stated, softly caressing her cheek and looking right into her eyes the whole time to make you she knew that he meant what he said.

Y/N felt her heart fluttering at his words, a feeling she had missed the previous weeks. Looking back at him, she finally saw the love in the way he looked at her again, causing a small smile to form on her lips.

"Really?"

"Y/N," Max started, pulling her as close to him as it was possible, "It was you the whole time."

Without waiting for him to say anything else, she wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him down to be able to place her lips on top of his in a short, but meaningful kiss.

"I-I'm sorry," She said, but he interrupted her by slowly shaking his head.

"It's normal to have doubts sometimes, love, but you should know that I never ever, not even for a second, will stop loving you."

"I love you so much," Y/N replied, tears of happiness forming in her eyes as she leaned forward to kiss him again, feeling as if all the doubts were lifted off of her shoulders as soon as their lips touched.
