All my life, all I did was to achieve my parents' dream.
"I'm so happy for you, Jaxon! Tiyak kung mas gagalingan mo pa ay may pag-asa kang maging susunod na general!" my mom happily hugged me. Ngumiti naman ako.
We are currently having a dinner at a fancy restaurant. I just told my parents that I got promoted at the army. From being a first lieutenant, to being a captain. This has always been my dream.
For me, being a captain is already an achievement. But being the next general is everything. Not just for me, but also for my parents.
"I want you to follow my footsteps, son. You're exceptional and I know you can be a great general." My father raised his glass at me. Ngumiti naman ako.
Akala ko 'yun lang ang pangarap ko. Akala ko kuntento na ako sa pagkamit ng pangarap ko at ng mga magulang ko. Akala ko doon nalang iikot ang mundo ko.
Pero nagkamali ako.
"This is my eldest daughter, Mari Gauxiena." Inilahad naman ng panganay na anak ni General Donovan ang kanyang kamay sa aking mga magulang. Sinundan ko siya ng tingin, hinihintay na sa akin naman niya ibaling ang tingin niya.
"You have a very pretty daughter, Ferdinand!" my mom complimented her.
She is... and I know that she is more than just a pretty face. She is something more. She has something more. And I know that 'something more' will make me go crazy about her.
Nang tumama ang tingin niya sa akin ay hindi ko maipaliwanag ang nararamdaman ko. Tipid lang siyang ngumiti sa akin.
"Hi," she said.
Hindi na ako nakabati pa pabalik sakanya dahil binalik na niya muli ang tingin sa librong hawak niya.
