Ryu leaned onto the wall opposite of the girls. His attitude appeared to be calm, but there was a threatening aura surrounding him. He walked towards Kimi, and she seemed to slightly back away. From (Y/N)'s point of view, he looked as though he could hurl himself at the girl at any second.

"I swear, I don't even see why you care so much about fucking Yukio," Ryu stated in an almost pestered tone, his hands stuffed in his pockets.

"Y-You said that I wouldn't tell anyone, why d-did you say t-that?" Kimi stammered, unsure of herself for once, obviously not wanting to be harmed by the dominating male.

To this Ryu chuckled. "I mean I guess you could tell people that (Y/N) did all these bad things and everything, but since I did happen to overhear the entirety of the conversation, I could just tell Yukio what really went down, and he might never talk to any of you again. Not only that, but I'm sure he'd ask (Y/N) about what happened, and seeing as he clearly favors her over any of you, he would probably believe her. So basically, you might have a few of your pathetic, little underlings to hate (Y/N)'s guts, but really the majority will side with (Y/N), especially if they hear what Yukio thinks." Ryu looked at the girls, his eyes emoting mal intent, "And if you did happen to say anything, there could be other consequences." Ryu emphasized the last part heavily, and (Y/N) swore she could see Kimi's knees shake.

All the girls looked at Ryu in awe and slight fear, without anything to say. Everyone speedily left the scene, all besides Ryu and (Y/N). As soon as the others left, she fell to her knees and covered her face. She felt surprised as two arms wrapped themselves around her. (Y/N) opened her teary eyes to see a mess of red hair right in front of her. She didn't know what to do at first, but she eventually melted into the hug and began sobbing. She didn't know why, but she just felt so helpless and lonely at the moment and didn't know what else to do.

Ryu rubbed her back softly, giving her words of comfort. He lightly grabbed (Y/N)'s chin with his hand and lifted up her face, their eyes meeting.

"Hey, why don't we go up to the roof? No one will see us up there so you won't get in trouble." Ryu suggested in a caring tone.

"W-What about c-class?" (Y/N) choked out, her voice weak from crying.

"Come on now, you really want to go to class looking like this?" Ryu replied as he stood up, making himself tower over the crumpled girl, and he extended his hand out towards (Y/N).

(Y/N) shook her head, knowing that she'd draw much more attention to herself being there than if she just skipped. She took Ryu's outstretched hand, and she was quickly pulled upwards, still dwarfed by the tall boy. Ryu and (Y/N) then made their way to the roof once she was steadily on her feet, and he kept one of his lanky arms around the girl.

The duo reached the roof. They had not said anything to each other since they had begun walking, and (Y/N) didn't know what to say now that they were alone on the roof. She felt embarrassed because she had just cried her heart out in front of a boy she hardly knew.
(Y/N) hated crying in front of others, especially at school. Not only that, but Ryu had come off as such an arrogant bad boy at first, and she worried that at any moment he'd turn around and start laughing at her.

The wind blew through her (H/C) hair, and she allowed a few more teardrops to silently cascade down her face.

Ryu stuffed his hands in his pockets and looked over the horizon. "I don't get why you care so much about what they think." Even though it didn't necessarily sound the kindest, it still felt like there was a caring undertone.

(Y/N) could only stand there, having no clue how to respond.

"I don't know... I guess I just would rather be thought of more highly by others and not have people's opinions of me based on lies." (Y/N) replied, and she sat down on the cold, cement rooftop. "By the way, and don't take offense to this, why do you care so much about how I feel? You didn't necessarily come off as the type that would care so much about a girl you hardly know." (Y/N) said with a serious, albeit confused, the expression on her face.

Ryu's eyes softened and he sighed, which wasn't at all what (Y/N) had expected his reaction to be.

"If you really want to know, it's because you remind me a lot of how my sister was treated in school," Ryu stated as he continued to stare off into the distance, his red hair slightly blowing past his face. "She's a lot younger than me though, I think she's 9 now."

(Y/N) was a little shocked, as she had basically just been compared to his kid sister.
She couldn't help but wonder about what he was talking about.

"What happened?"

Ryu looked back at the girl, and she grew a tad worried that she had said something wrong.

"The other girls at school would make fun of her. They'd call her ugly and stupid, and for what reason who knows. My sister would try her best to ignore them, but sometimes she just couldn't handle it. That's when I would help comfort her. I know I don't seem like the type of person to do that, but I was the only person she had to talk to. Our parents were often either at work or attending important meetings and such." Ryu said almost with an almost pained expression as (Y/N) stared up at him in awe. "One day, my little sister came home and was bawling her eyes out. The girls that teased her had begun making fun of her hair and saying that it was the ugliest thing that they had ever seen. So, she ran upstairs and cut off all of her hair. After that, we finally transferred her to another school." Ryu ended his sad story with a small frown.

(Y/N) couldn't help but feel sorry for the boy.

"Is that why you moved here?" (Y/N) inquired, trying to piece everything together.

Ryu gave a larger frown, "No, she still goes to school in the city. I moved here for different reasons."

(Y/N) still didn't completely understand, but she thought it better if she stopped asking so many questions, even though the mention of the city did remind her of her conversation with Shiro, even if it wasn't even related.

"Oh," Ryu continued, "as for why I cared what happened to you, it's because I think you're different, and I want to know why." Ryu declared with a stoic expression, but (Y/N) swore she could see another emotion gleaming in his eyes.

Ryu walked over to (Y/N), he stood about a foot from her before he took out a cigarette from one of his pockets and lit it. (Y/N) felt a bit uncomfortable, seeing as she had never been exposed to that many smokers in her lifetime, and she knew that they weren't the best things for people.

While Ryu and (Y/N) sat on the rooftop in silence, she wondered what Ryu had meant when he had said that he thought she was different. She also wondered what reasons he had for moving if not because of his sister, and why weren't they together? Did his parents have a recent divorce? Was he kicked out?

Before (Y/N) could think any further, the bell rang, and she flinched from the loud sound coming from what seemed to be like nowhere.
"Finally, looks like it's lunchtime," Ryu said exhaustingly, and he looked back over at (Y/N).

"You're still doing that project with Reiji, right? I'll walk you there if you like." Ryu offered as he spat out his cigarette out and crushed it under the weight of his foot.

(Y/N) gave a small nod, knowing that he probably wouldn't take no for an answer.

She began following behind him, and as they passed other students, she kept her head low, not wanting to draw much attention to herself.

They reached their destination, at last, she was later than she normally was, and she didn't know how Reiji would react, as he always seemed to over-dramatize every little setback. Ryu opened the door and was immediately met with questioning from Reiji.

"Why are you here? Have you seen (Y/N) today? I thought I saw her earlier." Reiji quickly questioned the redhead, not even waiting for the boy the answer.

(Y/N) then shuffled out from behind Ryu and into Reiji's line of sight.

"Ah, there you are. Why were you two together? You guys didn't have a class together just now." Reiji continued to question the situation.

"Long story, you guys should start working now," Ryu replied plainly before he abruptly walked out the door.

(Y/N) gave a small smile, and she sat down, slightly amused by the look of shock on Reiji's face. But she had to wonder why Reiji knew so much about her schedule.
