"Due to the heinous nature of this crime, specifically the murder of Taye West, we believe Mr.
Anderson's release would pose a threat to the citizens of New York. and with his...significant other's financial resources we see little impeding his flight. Therefore, the State strongly recommends your Honor deny his bail"

"Mr Mason" The judge said

"your Honor, the State's evidence to support their allegations against my client is lacking, if not non-existent"

"We aren't arguing the facts of this case today, Your Honor"

"any effort to deny my client bail must be based on credible evidence, but the State's case is based on an the murder weapon which belongs to my client."

"Objection, speculative"

I sighed and placed my head on the table.

"My client was arrested before an autopsy of the victim could be conducted. There's an independent basis for probable cause. It's our right to ask that any other evidence is brought forth to know whether there's any warrant to this case"

"Well, certainly there's additional evidence you could offer the court to prove that the defendant should remain in custody until the trial, otherwise I'm inclined to set bail. Mr. Vance?"

"of course. Your Honor, I've been running point on an investigation into Tahjee Anderson's potential involvement in other crimes. The 109th precinct was approached by Mr. West a couple of weeks ago, informing them that he had been sexually assaulted by the defendant and was being forced into a relationship with him. in fact he even tried to get a restraining order against the suspect" He said while placing a file on our desk and the judges bench

"Your Honor, there are other suspects the D.A.'s office is refusing to look into" Chris rebutted

"All the evidence points to Mr. Anderson"

"Mr. Mason, you asked for more evidence. This is it." The judge said while looking into the file

"but, your Honor—"

"I'm denying Mr. Anderson's request for bail and ordering that he be remanded to Rikers Island Correctional Facility to await trial" The judge said before banging the gavel

I closed my eyes and began to breathe in and out slowly, trying to not lose my cool.

"it's okay, this is just the beginning. I promise I'm getting you out of this" He said while placing a hand on my shoulder
