Luna

Earlier that day

I walked up to the funeral home where Anatoly's wake was being held. To say I was surprised to get a call from Vlad asking me to come was an understatement. So here I was dressed in all black holding my breath as I debated whether or not I should go inside. I wanted to, to pay my respects and comfort Vlad but I was worried that someone might see. Someone who knew who I really was. Someone who could tell Matt that I was here. I took one deep breath before forcing my feet to propel me forward.

I walked up the stairs, my heals clanking against the cold heard stone. I swear they were like sirens alerting everyone to my presence as every eye and me as I walked by. Half of them confused by my presence and trying to figure out who I was the other half was figuring out how to get into my pants. Or my dress, my tight black dress that I was really second guessing. I pulled my jacket tighter trying to cover myself as much as I could. For the first time in a long time, I felt uncomfortable with all eyes on me.

"Luna you came," Vlad said as he walked over and pulled me into a tight hug causing everyone to pay even more attention to me then they all ready where

"Luna you came," Vlad said as he walked over and pulled me into a tight hug causing everyone to pay even more attention to me then they all ready where.

Obviously now trying to figure out exactly who I was and how I knew him.

"Of course," I said as I tried to pull away from him but he kept his arm wrapped firmly around my hip, keeping me at his side.

"Come, we will be the first ones to say goodbye to Anatoly." He said to me in Russian as he led me up to the front of the room, past everyone else towards the coffin that sat at the other end.

My heart started to beat faster the closer we got. Vlad's grip got tighter around my waist and I could not tell if it was to comfort me or himself. When we stood in front of the closed casket it really hit me. He was in there, and we could not even see him. Not even have a real goodbye because Fisk took his head. Of course, Vlad still thought it was Matt, I really had to find a way to fix this before the two of them killed each other. Before I had to come to another funeral.

"I am sorry brother..." he said as he tried to keep his composure but his eyes were red and puffy as if he had been crying for hours.

"I will make him pay, for you brother." He told him as he rested his hand on the coffin.

He stood there for a few moments before taking a few steps back obviously giving me the room to say my goodbyes.

I took a few steps forward and looked down at the closed coffin and wished we had not fought the last time we talked. I wished a lot of things where different. I wished I followed him that night, maybe I would have been able to save him if I did. Maybe I could have ended this all that night if I would have just been more involved.

"I promise, I'm gonna make him pay," I said before bending over and placing a soft kiss on his coffin.

I stood back up and turned to see it in his eyes. He had heard what I said and he obviously thought I was talking about Matt. He reached out his hand to me which I took and he led me to the side of the room. I stood next to him quietly as person after person walked by and paid their respects. I kept my head hanging low trying my best to avoid eye contact with everyone.
