UNTIL THE END

Chapter Thirty Four

They kissed a while longer before pulling away and they just held their faces close together, noses touching as they panted, catching their breath.

Finally they felt there was nothing in their way and they could be together, no matter the distance they could still be together.

Just as they felt the relief the thunder rumbled once again and lightening shot down near them.

They panicked as it hit a nearby tree shocking a bolt right through it and it cracked, breaking and the large trunk began to fall towards them.

They panicked as they tried to move but the tree fell too fast, it began to fall down towards where they were stood and shouts were heard.

At that moment Noah pushed Adaline away and to safety as the tree came down.

"NOAH NO!" Adaline screamed as she fell backwards onto the floor with a bump holding her hand out as she watched the tree fall towards Noah.

The tree fell right down onto Noah, knocking him unconscious onto the road.

Adaline screamed as she tried to get up as fast as she could and rush over to him. Evelyn came running from the door after shouting for Adaline's parents and she ran over to where Adaline now cradled Noah's head in her lap.

"Noah..Noah..no..please please, you're going to be okay..you're going to be okay" she cried as she moved his shaggy hair out of his face and gently stroked his cheek.

Evelyn fell down by Adaline's side and hugged around her tightly as she looked down at Noah in despair as she noticed his eyes closed and he didn't seem to be breathing.

The tree had come down pretty hard and knocked him hard enough in the head that he could have terrible injuries. They had no idea how serious they would be until Adaline's mother and father called an ambulance after rushing outside and seeing what had happened.

Adaline cried non stop on the way to the hospital, the paramedics had carried Noah into the ambulance on a stretcher as his eyes stayed plastered closed as they pushed him inside.

Adaline desperately wanted him to just open his eyes and be okay but he didn't move.

They got to the hospital and rushed him down the hallway and into a room before everyone was pushed outside until they sorted him out.

They checked and done all sorts of tests on him as Adaline watched terrified through the glass as nurses and doctors rushed around him with objects as they tried to wake him up.

A doctor slowly walked out of the room and over to where they were waiting with a saddened look on his face.

Adaline's mouth dropped open and she covered her mouth with her hand as she began to sob.

The man brought up a clipboard and spoke slowly.

"I'm afraid, the boy has fallen into a coma..we don't know for how long but we do know his injuries to his head were quite bad and there is small internal bleeding" the doctor said.

Adaline just stared at him in disbelief and kept looking into the room where Noah was laying still in the bed and expected them to be wrong and that he would wake up any minute and only have small injures, nothing bad.

But she was wrong, Adaline's mother and father thanked the doctor before he walked away leaving them all stood.

Adaline's mother and father rubbed around Adaline as they stared at her with sorrow as she slowly made her way into the room now emptied of nurses and doctors and over to where Noah was lying still.

She stood over his bed as she clasped his hand into hers and she began to cry again, tears streaming down her cheeks as she looked at his lifeless body. She had no idea how long he would be in a coma for and if he would even ever wake up.

She felt it was her fault, he would of never driven all the way down here if she hadn't fallen in love with him and if he hadn't fallen in love with her. He would never of been hit by that tree if he hadn't of pushed her out of the way. She should of been hit by the tree not him, he was only trying to protect her but she decided it was her who should be in a coma..not him.

She cried hopelessly as she held around his still hand just hoping and hoping he would move a finger or something but nothing..no movement what so ever. And the only noise coming from the faint distant of the rest of the hospital and the beeping monitor in the corner of the room which showed his heart rate beeping slowly.

Adaline's mother and father took Evelyn back home after she said goodbye to Adaline and told her how sorry she was. Adaline's parents promised to come and collect her later on allowing her to stay a while with Noah until his father arrived after being told the news.

For hours she just sat alongside him staring at him laying there and wishing it wasn't real. Wishing he would wake up and it would all be a dream, that they would walk out of here hand in hand and none of this would be true.

But instead Noah continued to lay on the hospital bed still, not waking up or moving at all.

But being stuck in the coma, he didn't deserve to be in.
