Dil Ki Sukoon.

(Contentment of the heart.)

"Mutawaazin dil, tamaam tufaan ke darmyan ek sukoon samandar hain."

"A contented heart is a calm sea amidst all storms."

After Naailah convinced both their fathers that it was nothing serious and Waqaas was just being a drama queen, they both shook their heads and resumed their conversation, leaving their kids to their silly games.

Waqaas cleared up the mess he had created on the floor, his heart hammering uncontrollably.

He could not believe what he had just heard!

He was so shocked that  he didn't realise that his outburst might raise suspicions.

Quickly recovering from his shock, he feigned nonchalance and picked up the shards of glass that littered the floor, his heart on the other hand was a raging storm.

He would have never ever guessed that Naailah had such deep feelings for his brother, forget that, he never imagined that she possessed the courage to boldly confess her feelings.

Daaniyaal on the other hand, sat completely frozen, his whole body rigid, his face expressionless, yet many emotions flickered in his eyes.
Confusion, astonishment, anger, befuddlement?

She couldn't really tell.

He was always closed off and never easy to read, she didn't really know what went through his mind.

What she did know was, she was a great actress, the reactions of both the brothers proved that.

She almost burst into laughter, but quickly covered it up with an awkward cough.

Naailah helped Waqaas clean up the messed fizzy drink, all the while biting her cheeks.

From the corner of her eyes she could see Hamna and Faheem laughing not so discretely, but the two brothers were so lost in their own thoughts that they didn't seem to notice this.

After cleaning up the mess and mopping up the floor, she sat beside Daaniyaal once again.

She knew she couldn't keep up the act for much longer. She was bound to burst into giggles sooner or later, but for now she would enjoy the reactions of her dear cousins.

Waqaas sat opposite the two, holding onto the table for his dear life.

He didn't think he could stick around any longer, but he needed to see the reaction of his brother or hear what he had to say.

It was as if though his worst nightmares were coming true, he always feared Naailah being attracted to someone else, or someone asking for her hand in marriage, but never had he imagined it would be his very own brother.

He glanced at his brothers emotionless face, then at Naailah's broad smile.

His heart beats intensified agrily at the sight of her smiling at another man, at his very own brother.
