Aanko Ki Shiddat

Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم ne farmaayaa: " Dewar maut hain."

Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
"The brother- in -law is death."

(The above statement was to explain why parda from your brother-in-law is so important.)

Bushra's hands felt clammy, her heart thudded nervously as she twisted the edge of her lengha dupatta between her fingers.

They had just entered the gates of her in-law's house, which was now hers as well, and she felt extremely nervous.

Ayaaz watched her from the corner of his eye, but said nothing.

She was awfully quiet the whole way home, immersed in her own thoughts. She didn't make an effort to talk and only spoke if he had to ask her a question to which she responded to with a few words. He let her be after a while, and they spent the rest of their journey listening to his sister's bickering or to his father singing along to the nasheeds that he played. His mother on the other hand was awfully silent.

Ayaaz really needed to know what happened, he was sure his mother must have told Bushra something, but his wife and his sisters refused to utter a word. He would get it out of one of them very soon!

Bushra's sister-in- law's as well as her mother-in-law grabbed their bags and made their way into the house. Her father-in-law patted her head and passed her a weak smile, silently praying that his wife would learn how to get along with their bahu.

Bushra returned a small smile, as he walked away, rolling his suitcase behind him.

Ayaaz stretched his hand out, offering to help her to get out of the car.

Bushra gazed at his hand hesitantly.

Her hands were slick with sweat and here he was, offering her his hand.

She looked at him nervously.

"Um, do you have a tissue or a handkerchief?"

He nodded and handed her a handkerchief from his pocket.

She took it from him and wiped her palms, as her cheeks coloured in embarrassment.

Ayaaz shook his head.

Why do the smallest of things embarrass girls?

"It's okay, my underarms sweat when I'm nervous! I'm nervous too! If that makes you feel any better."

Bushra giggled, as she placed her hand in his.

What a strange thing to say.

He seemed like a very jovial and carefree person, two traits she wished she could have. She had a feeling that having him in her life would make her life much brighter.

Ayaaz gazed at her, her hand still clasped in his own.

She looked beautiful when she smiled.

He wished he could pause that moment. For the first time since he met her, all her gaurds were let down, she looked so content as her eyes crinkled and she giggled.

Ayaaz grinned.

Well, atleast that dumb statement finally cracked the ice a little.
