Also, sorry for the late update, I've had a lot going on lately so any book updates might come a bit late for a while
Also also, this isn't proofread, as per usual, so sorry for any mistakes)

—2 weeks later—

"Does anyone know what's going on with the werewolves?" I questioned as I tossed my backpack down in the hall of the girls' house.

"They haven't engaged in any other attacks, maybe they've given up." Dinah shrugged but I was a little less convinced. They could have been planning something big.

"Whatever it is, they've been quiet for a while and I want to celebrate." Lauren smiled, stalking over to me and snaking her cold arms around my middle as she swayed gently.

"Yeah?" I hummed and caught sight of Dinah looking on with starry eyes but ignored it.

"Yeah." Lauren nodded and placed a soft kiss on the corner of my mouth, her icy lips making my face chill quickly, "I want to take you on a date."

"A date?" I repeated, butterflies fluttering wildly in my stomach. Believe it or not, we hadn't even been on a single date yet. We'd hung out a lot, but no official dates. I was beyond excited.

"Yep." She said, popping the p before breaking into a face-eating smile.

I began to shiver a little in her embrace, so she disappeared for a second and came back with a blanket to drape over my shoulders.

"Aww, thanks babe." I smiled and realised Dinah had left at some point, so I gave Lauren a shamelessly lingering kiss, despite the dip in temperature.

"Say... meet me here Thursday after school. I wanna take you somewhere special." She smiled cheerily and I did the same, hugging the blanket further around me.

"Sounds good to me." I grinned and she offered me a quick, excited hug.

...

—The Next Day—

"I'm going out!" I called to my parents and, when they saw me actually having put a decent amount of effort into my outfit, they immediately sent me questioning looks.

"Where are you going?" My mom asked quickly and I blushed as I told them.

"I'm going out with Lauren." There, not technically lying... just not telling the whole truth because she'll probably never let me get away with going on a date unless she's met the other person.

"Okay, have fun." Dad smiled and went back on his phone but then my mum lightly slapped him on the arm.

"Uh, no." She scolded him and then turned to me, "You and this Lauren girl hang out a lot, I'd like to meet her. Is she coming to pick you up?"

"No, I was gunna-"

"Tell her I want to meet her." She interrupted me and I sighed as I sat down on the stairs, pulling my phone out to text her.

Me: Laur, my mum wants to meet you... 🤦🏼‍♀️

It's not long until I have a reply, but not from who I was thinking it'd be.

🧛‍♀️: Hey Y/n! I don't know where she is rn but I'll find her and let her know - Ally

Me: it's okay I'll just let her know when I get there and we can do it another day :)

🧛‍♀️: Okay :P see you soon!! - Ally

"She can't do it right now, Mom." I told her with a smile, putting my phone in my back pocket before heading the rest of the way down the stairs.

"Well I want to meet her still. It's good for you to be making friends but I'd like to at least know what they look like, okay?"

"Yeah, okay. I'll see you guys later." I nodded and gave them both a quick hug and left to go to the girls' house.

On the way, I felt an eerie sense of being watched but, upon looking around, saw nothing out of the ordinary. I took a deep breath and reached into my pocket after remembering what I'd almost forgotten to put there. My fingers curled around the cool, round edges of the crystal and the string wrapped around it, and I was oddly soothed. I didn't know if it was because of the crystal itself or because its temperature was similar to Laur's, but either way it calmed me down for the rest of the walk across town.

...

"Hey, Y/n!" Normani greeted with a smile as she opened the door for me. They constantly told me that I needn't knock but I still liked to be polite. Besides, I'd rather not walk in on them skinning their prey or something, as adjusted to the sight of blood as I had become.

"What's up, Mani!" I smiled back and hugged her quickly before peering over her shoulder, "Where's Laur?"

"Oh!" She glanced over her shoulder to before stepping out of the way so I could enter the house, "She was getting ready but then she went out to the garden a while ago. I ain't seen her since, she's probably still out there."

"Okay, thanks." I grinned and started heading into the backyard and down the pathway towards Lauren's garden. The other girls go there too sometimes, apparently, but it's mostly hers. She tends to the flowers and the plants and she spends most of her free time there when I'm not around. I haven't been in yet, not wanting to intrude on her space, but I figured I could just call for her from the outskirts and remind her that we had to go on this date she'd invited me on.

When I did just that, though, I was met with a sight that took my breath away. There, through the archway and amidst some of the greenery, was a literal goddess. Her hair was... just perfectly untame, as were her raging yet gentle peridot eyes, and she wore nothing but a white underdress.

My previously shocked expression turned into a smirk as she smiled at me, and I leaned against a thin tree to my left as I took in her appearance further, greeting her lowly, "Hello, Beautiful."
