It was uneasy, after that.

Lafayette and Peggy walked to her house, the two stopping at the front door. Peggy squeezed his hand.

"How am I going to stand being around Alex?" Lafayette glanced down at her, straining to her her whisper. Peggy looked up and met his gaze, to show off tear-filled eyes.

"And what about John? Eliza?" Her voice cracked, and Lafayette took her shoulder and brought her close to him.

"Mi Amour," He cooed, into her curls. "It's best for her. I don't think it's good for her to know- do it for Philip."

Peggy sniffed, wiped her tears, and stepped away from Lafayette. "Yeah, yeah, I know. it's just- hard, ya know?"

Lafayette forced a smile, nodding at her.

"Okay, darling. 'Night." Peggy bid, placing a hand on the doorknob.

Lafayette leaned in, pressed his lips against hers, and stepped back a few seconds later. "You are so kind. I love you to the moon and back."

Peggy smirked before replying, "Pfft, to the moon? I love you to whatever-the-farthest-planet-is and back."

He laughed a little bit, and replied, "I love you to the infinite universes and back."

Peggy struggled for a little bit, trying to think of something to one-up him, before getting flustered and muttered a, "Whatever."

"I love you." Lafayette stepped back, away from the door.

"I love you, too." Peggy bid him good-bye, and closed the door behind her.

"Peggy!" Eliza yelled from the top of the staircase across from the door. Peggy had barely even slipped off her chucks when her oldest sister, Angelica, grabbed her by the hand and pulled her up the stairs to the yelling Eliza.

"Wha-what's happening?" Peggy demanded, through huffs, out of breathe, once they reached the top of the stairs. Seeing her oldest sister unfazed by the trek, she labored her breathing to hide her out-of-shapeidness.

"I have Alex's phone!" Eliza hissed, excitedly, waving it around.

Peggy's stomach dropped, but Angelica giggled, a mix between excitement and nervousness.

Alex told her he deleted the messages, between her and him. So it's fine, right? And besides, Angelica wanted to see what the great Alexander Hamilton's search history was. And what kind of pictures did he take?

Eliza lead the two of them to her former bedroom, and closed the door. She locked it, too.

I'm stuck in here, Peggy thought, feeling her pulse quicken.
