The rain drops fell gently to the ground that was soaked in the blood of the battlefield. Soft sobs could be heard from the ninja that hovered over their comrades they must have know since youth. If you were there you would be able to smell the sharp scent of pennies all over, knowing what had happened on this red stained day. It all started with a grudge, one that no one could have avoided. Amongst the bodies that were both dead, alive, and dying was a young man who knew of this type of grudge. He himself had taken this path, but a certain light lead him away from that darkness. Now that light lay in his arms, burnt out, not visible to the living world anymore. The liquid still poured from her wounds she received, trying to protect the man who saved her life countless times since they had met. All he remembered seeing was her short pink hair, untied from the matching red headband she was so proud to wear. The tips of the multiple weapons that were long enough to go through, only but grazed his shirt, not even touching his pale skin. The motionless girls head lay on his lap, only her hair moving as he brushed his shaking fingers through her sweaty, sticky pink and now red hair. The smile she managed to break out before her dying breath was long gone from her small, sweet lips. Her ever green eyes gone dim, lost their forever blazing light. With a gentle movement, his hand swept over her eyes, closing them to give the sign she is no longer one of the living. Knowing she was a medical ninja, he guessed that someone as strong willed as her would have something he wanted. Reaching down to the beige pouch around her waist, he digs his hand inside to search for any small cases, maybe even a needle. His knowledge in medicine was limited, but he had seen the "last resort" once before during his days training. The dark purple liquid was smooth as he lifted it up to his eye sight. Closing his fist tightly but carefully around the small needle, he leaned down to kiss the girls exposed forehead. Moving his lips over to her dead ear he whispered quietly,

"I love you." Without hesitation, he flipped off the sanitized lid that covered the needle, quickly stabbing it into the side of his neck. He placed her limp body sideways, as he laid himself down facing her. Taking her delicately soft hands in his own big and rough ones, he stared at the peaceful face he had always loved, as the world around him slipped away into the life after the living.
