Sherlock was spiralling. Again. There was no doubt about it. He wasn't back on drugs, at least not yet. He was broken, and it was all because of one person :

Kara Dives

It'd been almost half a year since Honduras, but there were signs that she was back. 2 in particular : Christmas, and St. Barts.

It was Christmas, and Sherlock was in a mood. He hated the idea of gift giving and was sat in his chair, muttering things about Scrooge and how "This entire endeavour was a frivolous waste of time." Sara opened the door to the flat, holding a pair of reindeer ears. One hand to her lips, she crept up behind Sherlock, and jammed them onto his head. He let out a cry of indignation and tore them off his head. I laughed. Picking up one of the presents, I passed it to Sara "Merry Christmas Love." I said with a smile, pressing a gentle kiss to her lips. Sherlock gagged. Sara looked at him with a mischievous smile. She then walked over to him, and kissed him on the nose. Sherlock froze, and I doubled over laughing at his expression. After my laughs had subsided, I surveyed the tree. There was only one present left, but I didn't recognise it. "Sherlock, is this from you ?" I asked, picking up the present. "Why would I get you a present ?" He asked, actual concern on his face. I sighed. Then I noticed the writing on the box. "To Sherlock." I handed the box to him, and he frowned, carefully unwrapping it. Then his eyes widened. A violin case lay in front of him. He eagerly opened it, then gave an audible gasp "What is it ?" Asked Sara "A Stradivarius" he replied in awe. He marvelled the beautifully made body, holding it to his chin, experimentally. "Don't those cost a lot of money ? Who got it for you ?" His smile faded slightly as he reached for the card. As he read it, his face drained of colour. "So-" prompted Sara. He ignored her, going into his room, slamming the door behind him. I picked up the forgotten note "Love you forever
KD" it read.

And then the following February, when Sherlock had skilfully lead us straight into a trap. We had stood in the harsh wind as my stomach turned over and over, hands behind our heads as guns were pointed at each of our faces. Despite Sherlock's usual meaningless banter, only one thought filled my mind:_ Sara shouldn't be here _I gulped, glancing at Sherlock who I could tell was about to say something either stupid or genius, when the bang of three gunfires echoed through my head. The three gunsmen dropped to our feet simultaneously and I heard myself breath out in relief. While Sara and I recovered (like normal people) Sherlock was searching for the source of the bullets. I followed his gaze to the rooftop where a glimpse of a familiar coat and billowing brown hair flashed over the edge and vanished. Judging by Sherlock's expression, I knew it was who I thought: Kara Dives. She'd saved our lives again.
