Mikeys P. O. V.

I spent pretty much the whole morning trying to avoid Harvey. I didn't want to talk to him, I didn't want him to ask any more questions about me stealing things.

I couldn't just explain it to him, not without opening up about things I didn't want people to know about me.

It was my secret. I had many secrets, some people knew a few, others were oblivious to all of them. But none of them knew my one secret that I desperately hid away from the world. My insecurity.

Especially people like Harvey couldn't know. I only knew him for, how long, a week? Even Rye didn't know it, even my parents didn't know it. And yet, Harvey, goddamn Harvey Cantwell almost managed to make me open up to him without even trying.

Besides, he definitely hated me now. He invited me over and I attempted to steal from him. I'd hate me too.

So far I managed to remain unseen by Harvey. Untill I arrived at the school cafetaria for lunch break.

The food was good, well, for school standards at least. I went back for a second portion and saw there was already a line of people waiting. I groaned internally and joined the line. Luckily it went pretty fast.

When there were just two people left in front of me someone joined the line behind me. I already knew it was Harvey and looked strictly in the other direction.

"Can we talk?" he simply asked.

I didn't reply. Instead I stepped out of the line and put my plate on the pile of dishes, rushing to the bathroom to get out of the situation. I stood in front of the bathroom sink and splashed a few scoops of water in my face with cupped hands.

Acting like this was so unlike me. Why did I suddenly care so much about what Harvey thought of me? Heck, I didn't even care what my parents thought of me. He was messing up my head and it drove me crazy.

With a squeaking sound the bathroom door opened and Harvey came in.

"Can we talk? Please?" he asked again. I sighed and turned away from him.

"Are you avoiding me?" he asked.

Well obviously I was! "... No?" I muttered.

"You're definitely avoiding me" Harvey determined.

I remained quiet.

"Is it because of what happened the other day at my place?" he asked.

You mean when I stole from you? Of course it is! I didn't respond.

"I'm not angry with yours if that's what you think" he said after a long pause.

"You... You're not?" I mumbled and turned around to see his face.

He shook his head. "I'm not. I'd like to start over again. Like, we can forget it ever happened. Would you like that?" he suggested.

I nodded.

He gave me a reassuring smile. He had such a cute smile-wait did I just think that? It was probably nothing.

"Thanks Harv" I said.

"Now can we please exit this bathroom. It's smelly in here" he laughed.

Brooklyns P. O. V.

We went to the cinemabuilding all the way by foot because Jack didn't have his bicycle with him that morning. It wasn't that bad though. The cinema wasn't that far away.

It wasn't really a special building. It wasn't as impressive as other cinemabuildings were, yet when we arrived Jack stared at it in awe.

"How long has it been since you went to see a movie" I laughed.

Jack shook his head. "A pretty long time ago. I mean, I went to see one with Andy in July but since then" he shrugged. His body language appeared nervous somehow.

"Sooooo what would you like to watch then" I asked. Jack shrugged.

"I don't know, it's all good for me. What do you want to watch" he asked.

"What about Love Simon, are you okay with that" I suggested.

"Sure, that one sounds good to me" Jack nodded.

The room was almost empty, just two young couples and a few other pupils that skipped school today. We completely ignored the numbers on our tickets and just sat down in the middle because I always considered the very middle seats to have the best view on the screen.

The movie was beautiful. I saw why it was so immensely popular.

I glanced over to Jack every once in a while. He was completely mesmerized by the screen, staring at almost awestruck. Like a little kid visiting Disneyland for the first time.

At the final scene at the ferris wheel, I turned my head to Jack just as he did the same. Our faces were just inches apart.

We just stared at each other not saying a word. My body screamed to just lean in and kiss him already. I felt heat rise to my cheeks as the tension rose.

At last Jack turned away and coughed awkwardly. "So uhm... Nice movie" he muttered.

"Yeah...." I mumbled almost soundless.

I was relieved to feel the fresh air as we walked outside of the building.

"That was fun" Jack said.

"Yeah. It was. Wanna hang out again some time?" I asked him.

"Yeah, I'd like that" he replied.

He smiled at me. It was a genuine smile, not a nervous one like my brother sometimes tried to pull off when asking for a favour. I smiled back.

"Would you like me to walk with you back to your place, well Andys place?" I asked.

'Oh god Brooklyn you total moron! Only couples do that!'

"Nah I'm good" Jack said dismissingly.

"Okay, see you around then" I replied.

Jack waved me goodbye and headed home. I turned around and started walking home, but then suddenly remembered something. How were we going to make plans to hang out if we didn't have each others phone numbers?

I ran back to Jacks direction. After a few minutes I saw him walking. I was about to call his name but remained quiet when I noticed something odd.

Jack was walking the opposite direction of where Andys house was. Strange... He said he stayed at Andys right? Then where was he going? I quietly followed him.

Street after street. Progressively the houses became more abandoned and the streets worse quality.

'Where is he going?' I thought. 'It almost looks as if he's heading for the- wait what if he is!'

My speculations were right. After a few more blocks we arrived at the enormous Grey building.

I watched as Jack entered and immediately went up the stairs. He clearly knew his way around there.

All of the pieces clicked together. Why he got nervous whenever he talked about home, why he was impressed by the cinema, why he always seemed to wear the same clothes. It all made sense now.

Jack lived in the Tokyo Hotel!
