**A/N:
I know it's a bit short, but I promise that the next chapter will be longer. It will also be a bit intense and contain a good bit of violence. **

I looked myself over in the mirror for the hundredth time to make sure I looked okay.

"Are you ready to go, Tesoro?" Vince asked, stepping out of the bathroom.

"I think so. How do I look?" I asked, turning to face him. I wore a black dress that went down to my knees, and the sleeves and neckline were lace.

"Beautiful, as always."

Today is Lacy and Marco's funeral. Four days ago, when Vince told me that she had been pregnant, I lost it. I cried for what seemed like hours. I knew that they were together but for her to be pregnant...

We walked down to the car that waited for us outside and got in. We drove twenty minutes to the funeral home where a lot of people were already waiting.

"You need to step out at any time take Stefano or me with you, okay?"

"Okay."

I stood between Vince and Stefano as people made their way around and shook hands. Lacy was an only child, and her parents died before she began working for Vince, so there wasn't a lot of people who showed up for her. They all mostly showed up for Marco and as a sign of respect to Vince.

We were an hour in before I had to step outside to get away from the crowd. Stefano went with me because Vince was talking to a few people and I didn't want to bother him.

"You still not taking anything for your anxiety?" He asked as we leaned against the side of the building.

"No, I don't want to be on any meds. It's gotten better over the years."

We went back inside after a few minutes when the funeral service was beginning. I sat down beside Vince, and he instantly put his hand on my thigh.

"You okay?" He asked.

"I'm fine."

I looked around at all the people there as the priest began talking. I saw Adrianna sitting beside her father and her uncle. After what Adrianna told me last time I saw her, I wasn't a bit surprised to see Nicolai Mariano sitting behind her. He wasn't paying attention to the priest. He was staring at the back of Adrianna's head.

"It's rude to stare, Bambina," Vince whispered in my ear.

"I'm worried about her." I said, looking at him.

"There is nothing you can do about it."

"I know." I sighed.

Once it was over, we all headed over to the cemetery. As people arrived, red roses were handed out to throw into the grave.

It seemed only fitting that it began to rain as we stood by their graves. Stefano got an umbrella out of the car for me and stood right behind me, holding it over my head.

When people began leaving Adrianna walked over and hugged me.

"How are you doing?"

"I'm okay. How are you?"

"I'm good." She said with a small smile, but I knew she was lying.

I wanted to find a way to save her, but I knew that there was nothing I could do. She was trapped in this life, in this world. Some women have committed suicide to escape our world, and I prayed that Adrianna wouldn't resort to that.

We were the last ones to leave when it was all over.

We planned to change clothes and have dinner when we got home, but Gio was waiting for Vince when we arrived. I had noticed that he was absent during the funeral, but I didn't ask questions.

"I have those papers you asked for."

"Tesoro, go on upstairs. I'll be there shortly."

It was a demand, not a request.

I went up to our room and changed into my pajamas. I was tempted to sneak downstairs and listen through the door, but I decided it wasn't the best idea. Instead, I went downstairs into the kitchen and began cooking up some dinner.

I was almost finished when I heard yelling, followed by a loud crash. It went on for several minutes. I wanted to go in and see what the matter was, but I didn't.

Gio came in a minute or two later.

"He's going to need the first-aid kit. Tell him to call me tomorrow."

I nodded.

I turned off the stove and ran into the bathroom for the kit before going to his office.

He was leaning against the front of his desk. His suit jacket and tie were gone, and his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows. Blood was covering his left hand and dropping onto the floor. Everything that was on his desk now laid in the floor and some of it was broken.

One of the many things Vincenzo is famous for is his explosive temper. I heard Dr. McCall say something to him one day about the intermittent explosive disorder, but Vince ignored him.

"Sit." I said, pointing to the small couch by the door.

I kneeled between his legs as he sat down and opened the kit. I felt his eyes on me as I silently cleaned the wounds on his hands.

"Ask, Tesoro." He said.

"What happened?" I asked, wrapping a bandage around his hand.

He pulled me up onto his lap and sat back. I moved so that I straddled him and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"A few days ago, I had Giovanni collect the records of everyone who knew where you were in hopes of finding the rat. That's what he brought me tonight."

"He found something then?"

"Encrypted text messages. He was able to decode them, and they were directions right to you."

"Do you know who the person sent them to?"

"No, they were sent to a burner phone."

"So what's going to happen now?"

"You are going to go to eat and then go to bed while I go out and handle a few things."

"That's code for killing someone, isn't it?"

He grabbed my chin with one hand and pulled my face closer to his. "If I answered that then I'd have to kill you."

I rolled my eyes and opened my mouth to say something, but he cut me off by pressing his lips to mine.

After he made sure I was okay and breathless, he pulled away.

"I love you." I mumbled against his lips.

"I love you too, Bambina. So f*cking much." He said, giving me another kiss. He then lightly slapped my hip. "Now get off my lap and go eat dinner. I have to go remind people why I am called Il Diavolo."
