A/N: Hong Kong's name is Leon, and Taiwan is Mei. Vietnam is Lien. S. Korea is Im Yong.

She was beautiful. Her hair a smooth and shiny ink-black, she was wearing her usual light-pink qipao with a peach-colored peony in her hair. White flowers framing her body from head to toe.

Leon looked away quickly before the tears could find him again. He could not bear to think that he would never see Mei's amber eyes again.

He could not bear to think that it was his fault she was dead.

Yao gently placed a hand on Leon's shoulder, and Leon was too tired to pull away. Tired of everything. Tired of life.

He watched as dewdrops rolled down the leaves of the flowers and the rising sun just poked over the lush hilltops.

"I want to be buried next to our river." Mei said one morning at the breakfast table, straight out of the blue. "In a field of flowers. At sunrise."

Yao spit out his tea. "What? Why on earth are you thinking about such things? Especially at your age!"

Mei shrugged. "We're all going to die one day, right? I just want you all to know how I want it to happen now. So there's no confusion when we're all older."

"R- right..." Yao said, looking a bit faint.

Leon shook his head to dispel the flashback. Memories, any memories with Mei in them, were too painful to relive.

"This was her favorite time of day." Lien whispered, on the other side of Leon.

No one bothered responding. They stood in silence for a few more moments, Yao, Kiku, Im Yong, Lien, and, of course, Leon himself.

"We should get back." Yao said quietly after a few minutes.

There were quiet murmurs of agreement.

"Wait." Leon cut in. Everyone looked to him.

"Just... give me a moment."

Yao eyed him with worry. "Okay." he agreed reluctantly, and everyone walked back down the path, leaving Leon with his thoughts.

Once he was sure he was alone, Leon knelt next to Mei and gently took her hand in his. Cold.

He closed his eyes, remembering back when Mei would insist that she loved him every day. He'd never responded. It wasn't worth it to give her false hope, right? He didn't want to lie to her. It was too late when he realized that he'd only been lying to himself.

If only he had told Mei the truth, back when he could - that he loved her more than anything. That all he wanted was to spend forever with her.

Leon suddenly felt a great urge to show her his true feelings, despite the fact that she was no longer here. He quickly pressed his lips to Mei's. A one-sided kiss. Soft. Stolen.

He had known that Mei would not move when he kissed her. But there was one part of his soul, buried away deep down, that had hoped her arms would lift and encircle him, that her lips would kiss back.

Leon pulled away silently. Tears were now steadily flowing down his cheeks. He let out a strangled gasp. There was no way Mei was dead, he told himself. But the lifeless body in front of him screamed otherwise.

When he could no longer bear to look at Mei, he got up and began to leave. He turned back only once, when the trees obscured his view of the rest of her body, just her face. A ray of sunlight illuminated her features, and Leon knew that was the way he wanted to remember her. Forever.

"Zàijiàn, kě'ài." Leon whispered quietly, then turned and left.

Mei would be alright.

well I don't know what to put here now ._.

Yes, I noticed that Leon just left Mei there and didn't actually bury her, but I didn't know how to incorporate that into the story. Just imagine it happened *waves hands and throws sprinkles over everyone*
