chapter three
girl in new orleans

ESME BROWNE STEPPED out from the kitchen with the hold of her dosage of blood for the day in order for her to get through with her full strength. As she rested against the doorframe of the living room, where her eyes fell upon the light pregnant brunette sitting on the couch, holding onto a book all about pregnancy as she was being grilled by Agnes, one of the witches who was eager to help Hayley with her baby. Her brow raised as she sipped some of her blood before beginning her way through the living room to where her eyes focused on Rebekah staring at her laptop she aggressively tapped believing through an internet search she'd be able to find Elijah.

Hayley was in protest of spending a day with Agnes in the clinic to have a checkup, and as much as Esme was interested in finding Elijah, she couldn't help but take more interest in the conversation between the witch and the werewolf. "I told you, Agnes, I feel great." Hayley reassured the woman who seemed to be wanting to take care of Hayley's baby more than herself.

"You are overdue for a checkup." Agnes stated as she hoped she'd be able to persuade Hayley.

Hayley raised her brow as she believed it was dangerous to go out to the clinic for an ultrasound. All eyes would be on her and Agnes wondering with through the French Quarter. "What am I gonna do, pop into the quarter for a quick ultrasound? A pregnant werewolf escorted by a witch?" She quipped. "Nothing to see here."

Esme sighed as she placed her mug onto the table beside Rebekah. "Hayley, a lot of women would kill to have a child." Her silence had broken as she raised her brow at the werewolf. "I don't understand why you wouldn't want to take better care of yours."

Hayley had thought on Esme's words, thinking that maybe she was right and not thinking about what would be the right thing to do for the sake of her child. "I know a doctor in the Bayou off the beaten path. Now I took the liberty of making an appointment for you tonight after hours, just us. Vampires will never get word of it."

"Okay. Fine." Hayley caved in with an eye roll. "Bayou baby doctor it is." Esme had broken out into a smile before sitting on the leather couch beside the blonde as Agnes and Hayley took off for a checkup.

Rebekah had begun to bite on her nails as Esme had settled beside her whilst reaching back for her mug of blood. She had noticed what the blonde's interest had been in and she couldn't help but sigh. Finding Elijah was amongst Rebekah's priority as the original hadn't been handed back by Marcel yet as she had been told. It made her question if it was even going to happen.

"Please, sister," Klaus had marched his way into the room with a grin plastered on his face as per usual. "tell me you're not still at it with the internet search. How does one begin anyway, just type 'anonymous attic'?" He questioned before aiding the stash of bourbon.
