CHAPTER TWELVE

•Friday October 29th•

My friends and I had a pretty normal week after hearing the news of Southside High closing down. Before school we all got texts from Veronica who wanted to have a group lunch together. I decided to ditch that lunch with my friends today because they wanted to have one last lunch of sanity with only northsiders. I did not want to be a part of them moping around crying about how they were losing their precious school; which they were not, because southsiders are still Riverdale citizens too. Toni and the others were supposed to find out today that their school was closing. Starting on Monday they would all be transferred to Riverdale High.

I met Toni outside of Southside High where her and Jughead were sitting on the front steps of the school.

Toni handed Jughead a paper. "Props to you, Jones. Very Lovecraftian, which I'm sure was the intention"

I rushed over. "Hey have you guys heard yet?"

"Heard what?" Jughead asked

All of a sudden the doors of Southside High burst open and all of the serpents were cheering with Sweet Pea and Fangs at the head of the group giving high fives to each other. They were all whooping and Toni and Jughead looked at them all with confusion. I, on the other hand, know exactly why they were all so ecstatic.

Jughead stood up, "what's going on?"

Jughead stood up, "what's going on?"

"This hellhole is officially closed! We're done! No more Southside High!" Sweet Pea cheered as him and Fangs led the other serpents away from the school. Sweet Pea and Fangs stayed behind to talk with us all though.

"What? How?" Toni asked nearly having a heart attack

Toni loves school. No matter how shitty the school she attended was. She wanted to expand her knowledge, no doubt of that, but I did not understand why she was so upset about the school closing. Southside High was a place with graffiti on the walls and bars on the windows. I would actually consider Southside High a prison more than it was a school
