Chapter 28 (Percy's POV)

I'm sure that this won't surprise, you, and if it does then your like me: A Kelp Head.

I had a spy in the army of Ouranus. And it's told me that they're gonna be coming soon.

We only had two weeks.

But Percy! That's loads of time!

It's not. Think about it. I had to get the army sorted, build up the barricades, and figure out a way to get my spy back to Canp, without it dying in the process. Great. So not a lot of time at all.

I got put the megaphone I'd stolen from Coach Hedge from when we were in the Argo II.

"Attention please, could all Hephaestus Campers please start constructing the barriers to surround Camp Jupiter. All Vulcan Campers help out as well. Thank you for your time!"

I waved my hand, and a portal opened up, and through it, I saw the Senate House from Camp Jupiter.

I had Malcolm Pace stand in front of the portal and make sure that people will only cross with my permission. I also got Reyna to charmspeak him to do what I said.

She did so, and even I felt the urge to listen to me, which was kinda unnerving. I'd been practicing my butt off to be more resistant to charmspeak.

Dam. I thought I'd practiced enough. Apparently not.

So anyway, he stood there acting like a Greek Version of Terminus.

"Leo Valdez. Son of Hephaestus. You may pass."

"Drevak Slamor. Son of Vulcan. You may pass."

"Liza Glode. Daughter of Hephaestus. You may pass."

"Jack Hunt. Son of Hecate. You may not pass."

Jack grumbled and walked off.

Malcolm admitted the rest of the builders through, bowed in my direction, then walked off.

"Reyna?"

"Yes Percy?"

"Come. Walk with me."

She followed as I weaved myself through the crowds.

She looked at me and grinned.

"No, follow me young man. We're going to see your mother."

I groaned inside, but couldn't stop myself from following her.

I whistled loudly, and a black pegasus landed on the floor in front of me.

Hey boss. Got any doughnuts?

No Blackjack. But I have some sugar cubes.

I took the cubes out of my pocket and fed them too him.

Blackjack, can you take Reyna and I to my mums apartment?

You're the man, boss!

And don't call me boss!

"C'mon Reyna. I don't have much choice do I?"

She laughed as she climbed on behind me.

"Not really Percy. Not really."

We took off.

It was exhilarating to say the least, to be in the air and not to have to be scared to be flying. I could finally enjoy the breeze whipping my hair back, and when I looked behind me, I saw Reyna, who looked sad.

"Reyna. What's the matter?"

"This reminds me of my old pegasus."

"Scipio, right?"

She nodded.

"Sorry. I'd kinda forgotten about Scipio. We can land if you want...?"

"Nah, it's fine. Just try and find another method of travel next time will you?"

"Sure. I have an idea for next time."

If you were wondering, we could either take Mrs O'Leary, or I'd recently mastered water vapour. So yeah. Two more methods of travel besides flying on a pegasus.

Yay me!

I'm no longer a seaweed brain!

We landed at the front of my mums apartment, and I'll admit it, I had half a mind to run away. But Reyna stopped me from doing it when I started to.

"Perseus Achilles Jackson, get back here immediately!"

She didn't even use charmspeak. But I knew from Annabeth to never mess with your girlfriend unless you want to die.

So I sighed, then knocked on the door.

It was opened immediately.

Sally Jackson stood at the door, her face angry, shocked and ecstatic at the same time.

"PERSEUS JACKSON! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN! WE HAVEN'T HEARD FROM YOU IN OVER A YEAR! Oh, I'm just so glad you're alright!"

She came out and hugged him, then looked at me, confused. She turned to Percy for an explanation.

"Mum. We need to catch up."

She steeped to the side, and we walked in, hand in hand. A fact that Sally saw, but didn't comment on.

Percy gave her the short version, basically saying:

"I'm evil, I've taken over Olympus, I've been blessed by Chaos, and I've dumped Annabeth cos she was cheating on me. Oh, and I'm going out with Reyna here, a Roman demigod child of Bellona. That's... about it."

Sally sat there for about 5 minutes taking it all in.

It was then that I realised that her belly was quite big. Bugger than average.

I looked at her.

"Sorry if I'm wrong, Ms Jackson, but are you pregnant?"

She looked down at her belly.

"Yes. I am. And I'm getting married! To Paul!"

"Congratulations Ms Jackson!"

"Don't call me Ms Jackson, dear. Call me Sally. And thank you, Reyna."

Percy had sat there in shock throughout the whole encounter. But now he started to talk.

"I- I'm going to have a sibling?"

Sally nodded.

"A sister."

He leapt up from the chair, then seemed to regain his composure.

"Holy me. Okay then. Uh... do I help with the baby? What do I do in the wedding? Can I help somehow? I can tell the Hephaestus campers to make something. Oh gods...

I'M GOING TO BE AN OLDER BROTHER!"

The last part he screamed to the world. But not out of fear. Excitement. And if we were to get married, I'd be a step sister! I mean, not that anyone could beat Hylla. But still. EEK!

Ooh, plot twist.

And 1000 words in this chapter by the way. I'm proud of myself. But I know exactly what the next chapter will be about. No one else does 😈😈. I feel evil right now.

Criticism is appreciated as long as it's positive!
