Chapter 56- Back Home

Shawn's POV

Sabrina is home! She's finally back home! Well, not yet, but she should get here in any minute! I've cleaned up all the mess that the babies made earlier with the toys and it was no easy task, I stepped on a lego earlier!
"Hello everyone!" I hear a familiar voice say after the sound of a door opening
"Sabrina!" I stand up from the couch to run and hug her tightly
"Hey baby" She kisses my cheek
"Where are the kids? I wanna see them"
"Sure" I take her hand and lead her to their room where they're playing on the ground. I didn't pick up Sabrina from the hospital because she didn't want me to, she says that it's because she saw me really tired and that driving in my condition was pretty dangerous, I told her that I was fine but she wouldn't take no for an answer, so I stayed home while she took a taxi.
"Oh my gosh they're so cute!" She sits next to them
"Don't you wanna hold them honey?" She chuckles
"I'm kinda scared"
"Don't be" She takes a deep breath
"Okay then" She picks up Alex
"How am I doing?" I smile at our baby's giggle as soon as he hears her voice
"You're doing great, do you wanna hold Harry as well?" Her eyes widen
"Two babies at once?! Let's take it slow" I chuckle
"Okay Sab" I pick up Harry and gently rock him in order to make him fall asleep
"You know that Harry looks like you, right?" She frowns
"No he doesn't, in fact, Alex is your copy"
"I don't see the resemblance between the two of us"
"You must be blind then"
"Well you must be blind too since you can't see how much Harry looks like you" She chuckles
"Okay you won: Harry looks like me"
"Thankfully they're totally different or we both wouldn't know who is who" We slightly laugh
"That's so true" I smile and kiss her cheek
"Love you"
"Love you too Shawn, always will" As soon as I kiss Sabrina's head both of the babies start crying
"What is happening? Why are they crying? Is everything fine?"
"Okay Sabrina calm down, they're just hungry" She looks at them all frightened
"Do you wanna breastfeed them?"
"How?"
"You know...you have two breasts and there are two babies-"
"But how?" I frown
"Don't you remember what they taught you on that group for newbies moms?"
"Pft! Of course I remember I just have to..." She looks around
"Lift up your shirt, take your bra off and then let the babies to the rest?"
"Yes, I knew that" I roll my eyes
"Yeah sure" She lifts up her shirt
"Thank god that I'm not wearing a bra today or that would've been hell" I chuckle and give her Alexander
"Okay, one step at the time" She slightly moves to get in a more comfortable sitting position and the kids finally start sucking on her nipples. I notice that Sabrina slightly cringes
"What's wrong?"
"It just feels...weird I guess?" I sit next to her
"What do you mean by weird?"
"My breasts feel less heavier but my nipples hurt" I sigh
"You just have to get used to it, you'll probably start feeling comfortable in two or three weeks"
"And they'll hurt until then?" I nod in response
"I really think so" She sighs but then looks at the babies with a smile
"At least it's worth it"
"Hey, this is also your first time holding them! How'd you feel?" She keeps looking down at them, without responding
"Sab?" I can hear her sobbing
"Are you crying?"
"What? No" She says with a voice crack
"Oh my gosh you are!" I laugh
"This is not funny!"
"Okay sorry" I wrap an arm around her shoulders
"I was gone for two weeks and I couldn't even hold them, I feel like I've missed a monumental moment" I try to reassure her
"You didn't, trust me, they were just throwing up everywhere and crying all the time" She rests her head on my shoulder
"I'm sorry if I wasn't there with you and help you with the kids" I frown
"It's not your fault Sab"
"Well I feel like it is" I wipe her tears away
"It's not anyways" I give her a quick peck on the lips

Sabrina's POV

Shawn is so sweet with me, so sweet that it makes me cry even harder
"Why are you crying so much? You're not pregnant anymore"
"Yeah but I still have emotions!" He chuckles
"Okay baby" The twins both pull away
"What do we have to do now?"
"I get that you might not remember your classes but you should at least have a basic knowledge about this!" He says jokingly
"Sorry, I'm panicking" he stands up
"Of course you are" he grabs two napkins and hands me one as he takes Harry
"You have to wipe off the milk on his face and then make him burp" I do as he tells me to do and then leave the napkin on my shoulder for when the baby is gonna burp. I see that Shawn is patting Harry's back so I do the same with Alexander until he burps.
"Great job!" I chuckle
"I'm trying my best" I stand up and leave the baby in the crib
"He looks beautiful" I then look at Harry who is also on the crib after Shawn made him burp
"They both are" I whisper as Shawn wraps an arm around my shoulders
"We made them"
"We did" I reply to him
"It's incredible, they're incredible, you're incredible" He gives me a quick peck on the lips and I smile
"Wait, it's time for their lullaby" He grabs the guitar and starts playing a very familiar melody
"It's the song that you wrote for me: Alone Together, do you remember the words?"
"You took my song and made an acoustic version of it?" He chuckles and nods
"Yeah, I was listening to it once and the babies fell asleep so I figured out that it was a great lullaby"
"You're a genius Shawn" I ruffle his hair and he slightly laugh
"Let's sing in sync, what do you think?"
"Sounds great to me" I smile
"Okay then: one...two...three"

Shawn poses his guitar down
"Great, they're asleep" I kiss both of their heads as he turns off the lights and then we both walk out of the room
"I love them, it's such a shame that I wasn't fully conscious when they were born" I say as I sit down on the couch
"Hey, at least you're here now, that's what matters"
"Thank you Shawn for taking care of them" I rest my head on his chest
"You're welcome baby, how was the hospital?" I cringe
"It was terrible, I couldn't walk, the food sucked and I had to take at least 40 pills a day" He chuckles
"Okay don't exaggerate" I yawn

"Yeah, and I love you too Shawn" I whisper before falling asleep...
