Carl and Rick had a dream, a vision for this place. So did all who we have lost.

Carl and I used to sit up late on rooftops and just talk about everything and nothing. He told me how he wished that Negan and Rick would forgive each other. Try to mend what was broken and make something out of this place.

He told me how he would imagine his dad waking up and taking walks with Judith and reading her stories just like he did with Carl.

He told me about his childhood before it was taken from him.

He has always seen the potential in everyone, good or bad. Of course not at first but overtime he's really wised up beyond any of our years.

Rick dedicated his heart and soul into making this place. Blood, sweat, and tears into that bridge. And I want to make sure it wasn't for nothing. After the bridge was destroyed we never tried to repair it, never tried to mend it.

It was always Rick's project.

I sit alone in my room reading the letter from Carl for the millionth time.

"I'm sorry I failed you." I whisper. I tried to make things work between Negan and Rick, and I am trying to be the leader that Rick believes I could become.

I've brought up the idea of rebuilding the bridge to Michonne and Eugene many times but they say we don't have the supplies or man-power to do so. Michonne really appreciates the idea, I know she does, but she just brushes it off coldly each time. She knows what it meant to Rick and she knows I'm right for wanting to fix it.

There is still no word from Michonne or the others and I begin to grow worried. If they aren't back by morning I'll have to take it in my own hands and hope they are okay. But I just can't keep sending people out there, they have no clue what they are up against.

It's like the world is spiraling.

Walkers are talking, our people are missing, Negan is gone. And I can't even get into contact with anyone anymore because we are all so spread out.

This isn't what we fought for, this isn't what Rick fought for. He was the glue that held us together.

I walk out of my home and Alexandria is quiet. People are still working and going about their business but it all seems wrong. I walk past the park and see Gracie, Aaron's adopted daughter.

"Hi Kendall." She greets happily running up to me.

"Hi Gracie." I smile. "Who's watching you?" I ask

"Nora is. Have you heard from my daddy yet?"

"Not yet, I'm sure he'll be back soon."

"Okay, is Judith or RJ able to play?" She asks.

"Judith isn't allowed out today. Gabriel is watching RJ and Jude so you'd have to ask him if RJ can play." I explain

"Are you okay? You have a boo boo on your head."

"I fell down off my horse, but I'm okay." I smile again.

She signals for me to come closer and kneel to her level. I do so and she kisses my bandage. I can't help but to smile at her innocence.

"Gracie!" I hear a woman, Nora, call.

"I'm right here!" Gracie yells.

"I thought I told you to stay in eyesight."

"I'm sorry Miss Nora."

"Oh hi Kendall, nice to see you are doing better."

"Thank you Nora. Well I better get going. Nice seeing you Nora, bye Gracie."

I walk down again and ask around if anyone has heard or seen Michonne or the others but unfortunately there is no updates.

I walk past the kitchen and smell lunch cooking making me feel nauseous. I've been feeling so sick recently but I just assume it is stress. I mean I hope it is, I can't afford to be sick right now.

I make a mental checklist of everything I need to do such as talking to Rosita and finding Negan. I usually would be overly panicking right now but I trust Michonne when she said she could handle it.

And I'm in no rush to find Negan because I know exactly where he is.

I walk down to the infirmary to bother Saddiq. He and I have become rather close. I never disliked him or anything, I just held resentment for Carl's death at first.

I just think I need someone to talk to, even if I can't tell them everything. I wonder how much time I have before someone starts to notice Negan isn't in his cell.
