A Dream

It started in a dream,
For once I wasn't alone,
We were alone,
I felt at home,
Just you and me.

I was in line at a concert, waiting for a meet and greet,
I walked up on the stage, and you wrapped your arm around me,
You leaned in close, and whispered in my ear,
"There's something I want you to see,"

And then you swept me off stage,
And we both ran away,
You snuck me off somewhere by the sea.

Water behind us, a big screen in front,
I was tangled up in your arms,
Somehow more comfortable with you on the run,
Then I had been at my home farm,
I was stunned.

Thinking back I still am,
That moment with you arm in arm,
Hand in hand,
It was the most relaxed I've been since... Damn,
I can't remember when.

I look back with an ache in my chest,
Wishing each time I slept,
In your arms I'd rest,
'Cause surely with your arms wrapped around me,
I'd be safe, the best me I could be.

But with a jolt I stop this fantasy,
And remind myself thay I'll only ever find true happiness, true peace,
In a dream.
