Chapter Twenty-two: The Hell.

Our whole journey together was just us flying. Literally. First on a plane and now on each other. There was less than a day left to give the Chalice to Lucifer, in his hand. Apperently, entering Hell wasn't enough for Lucifer.

I began to see a shimmer in the sky, which means that we are closing in on Hell. Heaven and Hell are both invisible to the fields of Incompertus and nothing can go in them without authentication.

We began to slow down as we got closer to the shimmer in the sky. From what I could tell, there was exactly three hours before the day is done. Quickly, we descended down and walked the remaining distance. It felt good to finally walk a bit.

The gates of Hell...didn't exist. Well, I couldn't see them so I couldn't say much about it. The aura of the place changed and I felt a growing pit in my stomach.

"I hope you don't hate me after you see what I really am like," Wrath whispered in my ear.

"I would never changed my opinion over you," I confirmed.

"Is your current opinion good?" He questioned.

"It's way better than good," is what I wanted to say but I was interrupted by a brightly coloured explosion in front of me. Not the harmful type of explosion. The barrier between Hell and Incompertus vanished slowly, disintegrated. In front of me stood two monstrous doors. Engraved on the door was words and phrases that made no sense to me. The doors screamed evil. I could feel that pit growing deeper and stronger in me. What is happening?

In front of the two ginormous doors, stood two tiny people. Demons. We approached them as they eyed us. Once their gaze fell onto the sins, they bowed and welcome them inside the doors.

The creaking of the doors was enough to send Earth through a spiral of Earthquakes, Tsunamis and Tornados. I shut my ears, forcing any sound to stay away. Once the doors stopped creaking and displayed the place in front of me, we thanked the guards and walked in.

Heaven was beautiful but Hell was ten times more horrible. The rancid smell of acid plagued my nose as noises of the damned and dead penetrated my ears. The screams and wails of pain surrounded the air. If the sins were wicked then Hell was vile. The sky was the permanent colour of sadness and misery. It looked as if the inhabitants have never seen sunlight in the past billion of years. The only colour visible was black and red. Everyone wore black and red, nothing else. I felt so out of place with my white shirt and blue jeans. I gagged in my mouth due to the foul-smelling air around me. The growing pit in my stomach filled with acids and made me want to vomit. My eyes began to water at the stink of the place.

"My eyes hurt," Joshua whined.

"Mine too and the smell is so bad!" I yelled.

"You two should go in the River of Opposuitque," Greed said.

This was the first time I looked at the boys properly since we entered Hell and boy did they look good. Their faces altered themselves to look more like their persona. Their eyes permenently coloured with their own colours. They wore more elegant cloaks that were draped over their shoulders, embroidered with silver and red, pleated gently at the bottom. Their hair was all slicked back, exposing their foreheads and for the first time; I saw their true form. Everyone looked the same but what shocked me was the colour of Wrath's hair. Silver. It shined and reminded me of start light. The beauty of it rivaled that of Heaven.

"W-what is opposuitque?" I asked.

"It's another river that the 'residents' of Hell would have to go through upon entering to allow them to fully...engage in the place," Greed explained.

Like it was waiting for a signal, the river glowed black in the corner of my vision. We approached the black entity and I glanced inside. Pitch black.

I gulped, "is it safe?"

"Yes," Sloth answered, uncertain.

"I'll go first," Joshua proposed.

"Wait no," I interjected but I was too late. Joshua already submerged himself into the river and came out a few seconds later.

"Woah..."

"Go on Maia," Wrath let out a hand to help me inside. As soon as I put my foot in the river, a sharp sting flew through my body. I winced as I quickly went in the water.

How will I know when to come out?

My whole body yearned for freedom. The water gushed against me. The current bending my will and determination to stay here but not quite succeeding. The burning made me want to cry but I couldn't quite tell if I was or not. Then, suddenly, everything ceased. Nothing. Silence. Just me and the water. The water and I.

I assumed that was when it was time to get out so I did and "woah" was the right word to use. Demons flew overhead, carrying prisoners and chains. People roamed in shackles, surrounded by demons. Gates stood by the entrance to authenticate a person's entry.

"Woah," the praise escaped my mouth.

The smell no longer existed and my eyes no longer stung. I felt...normal.

"We have exactly three hours to get to Father to give him the chalice," Lust calculated.

"Where do we find him?" I asked.

"That's the thing, we don't know. He could be anywhere," Lust answered.

"Might as well start searching," Sloth sighed, "but can I nap first?"

Envy groaned and grabbed his brothers arm and dragged him off. I began to walk with Wrath towards...somewhere. The darkness engulfed me and I grabbed onto Wrath's arm. He pulled me to one of the large hills along the corner. We walked higher and higher till we reached the top of the small hill.

"This is my favourite spot," Wrath sighed.

"How come?" I asked.

"No one ever comes here so I get to be alone for sometime."

"Wrath, we need to find your Father."

"He isn't my father," Wrath said with so much venom, "at least he doesn't act like one."

"Wrath, my father didn't act like one too but he still is my Father," I explained.

He yelled, "we have different stories, Maia! Your father left you. My father tortured me, nearly killing me for millions and millions of years."

He sighed, "I-i am sorry. The topic of fathers is very triggering for me. I can't control my anger. You saw me as Wrath but now you'll see me as Wrath, one of the seven deadly sins and I'm afraid you won't like that version of me."

"Oh but why would she not like you?" A velvety voice replied from behind me.

Him...
