I was scared he'd do something. I blurted out, "why are you attacking heaven?"

Everyone stopped and looked at me..I agree, at this point, the question was stupid. Yet, I knew Lucifer would answer it.

He chuckled, his laugh echoing against the walls, "why am I attacking heaven? Why do you think I am? Your mother came in, ruined my life and stole my Chalice, ultimately making me useless. She provoked me, stole my artifact, that means declaring war on the other. I didn't want to harm her because deep down I still love her, but she gave me no choice. When I saw her fighting along side you lot, I remembered who she was and it made me hate her. Once upon a time, she used to fight by my side, we both wanted to prove that demons and angels can be together, live together. But by taking the Malum and threatening me, she is declaring war. Plus, I am Lucifer, war is m specialty. You have the Probus in you, with that power I can control angels as well, unfortunately, that power is within you. I didn't attack earlier because I needed to create a weapon go extract that power from you, but it works in a mysterious way."

"How does it work?" I asked.

He smirked, "now if I tell you, it would ruin the surprise."

I grabbed my sword and yelled, "stop playing games!"

"Darling, this isn't an ordinary game, this is chess and this is my move: Wrath come here."

Wrath moved towards his father, who snapped his fingers. Demons swarmed our group, binding us with Hell's rope. I felt it burn into my skin, draining my powers. I felt weak, exposed. I struggled to get free, but it was fruitless. Wrath stood next to Lucifer, awaiting a command.

"Surrender, Daughter of Valerie. Call off your army and join my side," he asked.

"Never!" I replied, through gritted teeth.

"Very well."

He grabbed Wrath's arm and bent it in an abnormal way. I heard a crack, and Wrath screamed, a scream full of pain. I tried to break my bonds.

"Wrath! No! Please, stop!"

"Surrender," he asked again.

I remained silent. I didn't want to leave her sacrifice to go to waste. Tears began spilling from my eyes. Lucifer grabbed into Wrath's other arm, snapping it into half. More screams of pain escaped from Wrath. I yelled in fury, pushing against my captors. Wrath had fallen to the ground, unable to move.

"I am going to ask you one more time; surrender and he'll be safe."

"As long as he is with you," I said, "he isn't safe."

Lucifer place his hands on Wrath's neck and twisted without hesitation. This time there was no scream of pain, just silence. I stared at Wrath's limp body, unable to say anything. A ball was stuck in my throat. All I did was stare, unable to do anything. Anger surged in me. First my mother and then Wrath. The Sins looked unfased and the Virtues were shocked like me. I screamed, pushing and pulling on the rope, making the guards losen their grip. I may be angel but I'm human too and they can't control the human part of me. Using brute force, I shoved the guards from me, slackening the hold on the rope. I was finally free. I glared at Lucifer, my blood boiling, my heart pounding in my ears. My vision turned black around the corners. Something in me began to ring, like a phone, waiting to be answered. I accepted the call, allowing my powers to flow through.

Heat flowed around me, engulfing me. A bright light shone all around me, blinding light, hot light. It was so bright that it became white rather than gold, due to the Probus. My thoughts were clear, focused: kill Lucifer. I heard a loud, ear-splitting scream. My knees wobbled, making me fall to the ground. My insides began burned, I left like my blood actually started to boil. My body was working overtime to control the heat in surging through me. My head felt light, the world began to spin. The light dimmed and vanished. I collapsed on the ground, taking deep breaths in, calming myself. Around me, the Virtues and the Sins were on the ground, shielding their eyes from the light. Lucifer laid on the ground, burn marks all over his body, ichor pooled all around him. His chest rose and fell slowly, trembling; they were his last breaths. A few feet from him, on opposite directions, were the Malum and Wrath.

I walked over and picked up the chalice, handing it over to Chastity. I knelt down beside Wrath, placing his hand in mine. Looking at his dim eyes, those eyes that were once so lively, so full of light, shattered my heart.
