Chapter Thirty-seven: The Information.

If I wanted to know more about Heaven and Hell, I should probably start from the beginning. The very beginning. I flipped the encyclopedia to page one and began reading. Nothing important came up but I was looking forward to reading chapter two:

Rulers of Heaven and Hell.

The obvious ruler of Heaven would be God but who is the leader of it? The leader of Heaven is who controls the Probus and is in charge of the Seven Heavenly Virtues. The previous leader was Abigail Cohen, who passed away in 1268. The position is now taken by Abigail's daughter: Valerie Cohen.

I stopped at the name Cohen. I have a faint memory of my mother saying that her last name was Cohen before she took the name Sterling. Abigail was my grandmother. I pushed the thought away and moved on.

Valerie Cohen was the last known person to wield the Probus. During the Holy War, Valerie used the Probus to end the opposing side and save millions of lives. Unfortunately, the Probus disintegrated and blasted into an explosion of Holy Light.

The ruler of Hell on the other hand is non other than Lucifer himself. The devil goes by many names such as: Prince of Darkness, Beelzebub, Mephistopheles, Lord of the Flies, the Antichrist, Father of Lies, Moloch or simply Satan. For simplicity's sake, we will use the term Lucifer.

Lucifer has always been the ruler of Hell. He is the king of all devils. There are many other superior and greater demons out there but he is the ruler of them all. Lucifer has had the Malum ever since and he has used it multiple times to create different types of demons. He has created the Seven Deadly Sins and many other minor demons.

I rubbed my eyes, removing all traces of tiredness from them. I moved onto the next page as started scanning through the page.

Types of Angels

Angels come in categories based on their power. Lesser Angels are people who died and lived a very virtuous and pious life that they are turned into angels. Lesser Angels do not have any significant power except strength, speed and immortality. After the Lesser Angels, we have the Divine Angels. These type of angels are greater than Lesser angels in every form possible. Divine Angels have the ability to control Lesser angels and mortals with their will. Divine is the highest degree that an average angel could go to. However; the virtues are considered celestial angels. They are the highest form possible that any living soul could become in Heaven

Types of Devils

There are two types of spirits in Hell: demons and devils. Demons are evil spirits that are used for malicious intent by Lucifer himself. Once again, demons come as Lesser and Greater demons. Devils, however; are superior spirits that can cause havoc with a single snap of their fingers.

I slumped back on my bed, holding the book upright. There is so many things that I didn't know about this world I'm being thrown into. My eyes began to close on their own and I gave them permission to drift me off to sleep.

I woke up to the sound of birds chirping outside. I pushed the covers off me as I stood up to go to the washroom. I heard a noise like a pencil writing on a paper. I turned around, desperately trying to find the source of this sound. On my desk, written in cursive on a piece of paper, was a message.

Maia, it's Wrath. Please take care of yourself. Father is declaring war and we have no option but to side with him. He is going to use the Malum on us so make sure you are nowhere near us. You might get hurt. I heard that there might be a way to strengthen your powers too; by using the Probus but it was destroyed when Valerie used it during the Holy War. I have a theory as to where the chalice may be but I have no idea how to test it.

When the chalice exploded, the Holy Light had to be transferred into something. The wielder of the chalice was Valerie, so what if the 'chalice' has somehow made its way into her? You must f-

Nothing else was written on the paper. I stared at the cursive words forming spirals and loops on my paper. Wrath had managed to contact me, so I smiled. More words began forming at the end of the page.

Your boyfriend made a mistake by contacting you. Don't worry, I won't kill him just yet Daughter of Valerie.

My heart began pounding at an inhuman pace. I scrambled for a pen and wrote down in shaky handwriting: what have you done to him? To which Lucifer replied: nothing he can't handle. I could feel that the connection was severed between us. I grabbed the encyclopedia and the letter and ran out of my room. I made my way to the meeting room, where all the virtues sat with my mother. I slammed the book down on the table and flipped the page open to 'Rulers of Heaven and Hell'.

"Where is the Probus?" I asked.

"I told you we don't have it, my mum replied.

"Don't you dare lie to me. Wrath is getting tortured because of this! He tried to warn me about Lucifer but he found Wrath and probably did something horrible with him!" I yelled.

"Maia, we d-" Diligence started.

"I know that you used the chalice during the Holy War and it exploded into Holy Light," I interrupted, "in Wrath's letter, he said he has a theory. If you want to live and win this war, I am going to need you to be honest with me."

Valerie gulped but nodded slowly.

"Tell me everything that happened during the explosion of the Probus," I instructed.
