Valerie's POV:

"Tell me everything that happened during the explosion of the Probus," Maia commanded.

The Virtues all looked at me in anticipation, waiting to see what I would say - I didn't know what to say. Everything happened to long ago that the memory was fuzzy. For the sake of the Virtues and Maia, I had to recall.

"I remember that we were losing," I explained, "we were losing badly. Nothing but dead and wounded soldiers. We had no hope left of winning. The Virtues were injured and beaten down. Our ranks had decreased by thousands. We had no other choice but to use our last option: use the Probus. We didn't know how it would react but we had to do something. There was so much bloodshed and death that I didn't know what else to do. I got the Probus, but I hesitated to use it. In that split second hesitation, another five thousand soldiers died. I couldn't let that happen anymore so I cut myself and poured my blood into it."

I paused to let my words sink in, "I uttered the charm that would activate the Probus- it's the only charm that we use that's in English: may my blood be accepted by the Probus. Unleash your power in favour of your wielder. The Probus accepted my blood and it did what I asked it to do. It unleashed it's power but the Malum was in a close proximity that the Malum's power also heightened. Due to the extreme amount of energy, the Probus exploded, sending Holy Light into the welder, i.e me. Once the light dimmed and we could open our eyes, Hell's warriors all died and all that remained was Lucifer and the Sins. The only thing remaining after the explosion was a few shards. We fought bravely and decided to make a Treaty to end all this. That's when everything stopped and was at peace for millions of years."

"I don't understand what happened to the Holy Light?" Maia asked.

"It simply made its way into me," I replied, not knowing much about this topic.

"Something doesn't add up, why did Lucifer attack Heaven if he loved you?" She asked.

"Now you're asking the right questions. Lucifer had not been king of Hell during that moment. He was to be crowned after the war so, technically, he didn't attack. Everyone thought it was Lucifer and in books it's written Lucifer's army, but he wants the King of Hell and that moment, he was merely a prince."

"Follow up question: if the Malum and Probus both contributed power, then why didn't the Malum explode?"

"Since the Probus was more in use and it exerted more power, it was the chalice that exploded."

"Where did the Holy Light go?" Maia Asked.

"I told you, it went in me," I replied.

"After it went in you, what happened?" Maia asked.

"I...I can't remember," I answered, sadly.

"Well try to remember!" Maia yelled. I felt a shiver run down my spine. Something about Maia's eyes made me feel some sort of fear, anxiety. She had become his headstrong woman who would fight for her love, but I feared that she'd end up like me. I had too once fought for a forbidden love and I ended up losing everything in the process. I prayed to God that she wouldn't go through the same.

"I really can't...can't remember," I sighed.

"I do," Kindness called, "after Hell's army perished, you started to glow, it was faint but I could see it. It suddenly stopped and it never happened again."

"Well that's helpful," Maia rolled her eyes.

"Let me finish," Kindness groaned, "when you were born Maia, you glowed too and everyone saw that. We believe that the Holy Light transfered into you."

"And no one told me?" Maia shouted.

"If we told you, Lucifer would have found out and we wouldn't have had a secrete weapon that he doesn't know about."

Maia was practically shooting daggers with her eyes. I could see she was infuriated and I didn't know what to do.

"Maia," I called out, softly.

"What?" She growled.

I sighed, "nothing."

She grabbed the book that she set down on the table and walked out, slamming the door behind her. I slumped down in my chair and groaned.

"Val, it's fine. She'll eventually open up. You're her mother after all," Charity soothed.

"When are you going to tell Maia that there is a possibility that she might explode like the Probus?" I asked.

Their silence was a good enough answer. I was somehow going to tell Maia.
