Him...

A man stood behind me at six feet three wearing the most elegant suit you would ever see. His face even more elegant. The beauty of heaven is nothing compared to the face of this man. His perfectly proportioned face with high cheekbones glistening in the light. His dark black eyes swirling into a bottomless pit. He had plump lips and the right amount of stubble around it. His body fought against the suit so I could clearly see hs perfectly toned body. His suit's first three buttons were undone so his perfectly tan skin was visible. His voice sent shivers down my spine and his voice melted my ears. Magnificent.

Wrath stumbled back and stuttered, "i-i-i d-don't know...m-maybe s-she might n-not like me l-like that."

It was at that moment I understood who the gorgeous man in front of me was.

Lucifer.

Tension built in me as I watched the fascinating man smirk at his "son". If he existed on Earth, he'd be that guy who had all the girls and guys whipped for him but he wouldn't date anyone. The guy we all love and hate.

"Lucifer?" I whispered to myself.

"That is correct! She's a smart one Wrath," the ruler of Hell complimented. The compliment alongside the deep voice made my knees go weak. His black eyes scanned over my body trying to find an imperfection. Honestly, I'd find many in a heartbeat. I really didn't like my own body.

"Oh, she's not my girlfriend," Wrath corrected, a tinge of sadness apparent in his voice.

"Such a shame. Maybe I could try something with her," the specimen smirked. A part of me wanted him to use me but the other part, significantly smaller, wanted to slap him in his perfect face.

Wrath had a terrifying look in his face but he mumbled, "whatever you say Father,"

"Now, where is my chalice?" Lucifer questioned, seriousness on his face.

"I-it is with Lust, Father," Wrath replied.

"Well go get it!" Lucifer yelled, "and leave the girl behind."

Wrath wanted to protest and so did I but something in me told me not to say anything. I remained silent as I nodded to Wrath, who took off trying to find his brother. I stood alone with the king of evil. What do you say to the king of Hell?

"H-hello," I said. Stupid. I mentally facepalmed at my own stupidity.

He laughed, a laugh that shook the ground and created a pit in my belly, "hello, Maia."

"How do you know my name?" I asked, getting creeped out.

"I know a lot of things about you Maia Sterling and I know many things about your family that you don't know."

"Like what?"

"If I told you, then you'd know it too and that's no fun, now is it?" He teased.

"I suppose so," I replied.

"Tell me Maia, why do you think you are here?" He questioned, raising a beautifully groomed eyebrow.

"I- because the sins showed up at my house," I answered.

"Yes, but why, of all the houses they could be sent to, they were sent to yours?"

I didn't understand why he was asking me this so I got angry, "I don't know! You are the one who sent them! Ask yourself!"

He blinked then began to grin, "good answer. You're feisty, no wonder Wrath fell for you."

"I-im sorry?" I stuttered.

"Really? Oblivious mortal! I know my child, he looks at you with such affection and I can tell he holds in you in such high regard. You are foolish not to have noticed, Daughter of Sterling."

"Two things: one, Wrath doesn't 'love' me. We are just friends and two, Sterling isn't my dad, or he doesn't deserve to be my dad." I retorted.

"You two have so much in common, but alas you setting for the church going boy. Such a pity."

"It's not a pity!" I yelled.

"Are you telling me that or trying to convince yourself?" He taunted, "face it Maia. I know you just like you know me."

"I-i don't know you."

"Oh but you do. I was there when your father left you and you watched your mother crying in the hallway. I was there when the doctor's reports came in. I was there when they told your mother she had cancer. I was there for the two years she suffered," he tortured.

"No! Stop!" I felt the tears well in my eyes.

"I was there the night you cried yourself to sleep after you saw your mother without hair. I was there to hear your birthday wish for your mother's health. I was there when she died and you sobbed on her coffin."

"No, stop it!" I sobbed.

"I was there during all your suicide attempts. I was there when you were an orphan. I was there when you met Joshua. I was there when you met my children. I am always with you Maia. Living as your deepest fears and desires. I can see what you can't and hear what you want."

I pleaded, "please stop."

"You don't know how long I've known you Maia."

"You don't know me!" I screamed. That's when it hit me. He's messing with my head.

"You may have been with me, Lucifer but love has been with me longer."

He gagged, "that's where you are wrong. You think you know that but no one loves you. No one truly loves you."

"My mum did, my friends did and according to you, so does Wrath."

"Love doesn't exist Maia, if it did then why did your mother lea-" but before he could finish his sentence I heard something behind me.

Wrath stood with his wings outstretched and holding the chalice. His hair was a mess and sweat glistened off of him. His eyes were blazing and searching. He truly looked like a demon. He extended the chalice and it caught the rays of the sun. The chalice radiated evil.

"Here you go," he stated.

"Finally," he grinned.
