Min-Hi's POV
By the time I had arrived home, it was four in the afternoon. Rain continued and it didn't look like it was going to stop any time, while the skies roared as if the gods were angry and an itchy feeling crawled onto my right ear.
"Who the heck is talking shit about me?" I scratched my ear as I thought maybe my boss was the culprit. Probably bad mouthing me...
I slid the keys in to the keyhole as I thought about what to say to my older brother, whom I lived with. I didn't want to tell him I quit, since he would begin calling me irresponsible for just leaving my job, but on the other hand, I hid the fact that he underpaid me and that he never actually did a contract with me.
But I had plenty of time to think about what to say, considering that it was still late in the afternoon and that he only got off work at seven o'clock at night, although there were a lot of times that he worked overtime and came home at 10 or even at midnight.
The only person that knew the truth, was Park Jimin, my distant cousin, who is also my neighbour. He lived in the rooftop of the building next to ours.
The door creaked as I opened it. The corridors were dark and as it thundered, the light reflected on the walls for a few seconds, which made my heart thump. I flicked the light switch, on the corner of the wall, next to the entry, but the lights wouldn't come on.
"Blackout...?" I mumbled as I closed and locked the door behind me. I turned my phone's flashlight on and removed my raincoat, placing it on the coat hanger. With the hand that held my phone, I placed it on the wall to hold my balance and removed my heels, switching to my fluffy rabbit slippers.
Once I was done, I walked down the corridor to go to the bathroom and take a warm shower since I still had my clothes drenched. But, just as I was about to grab the door knob and enter, I felt this strong presence behind me which made me stop in my tracks. I wanted to look behind, but at the same time I didn't. I could hear small irritating squeaks originating between the joists of the wooden floor.
I was scared...
Is someone in my home? Is it a robber or a killer? What do I do?! Am I going to die today?!
I closed my eyes and gulped. Just turn around and check it!
And just as I found the heroism that did not really exist within me, I turned around just to...
"AAAHHHHHHHH" my heart jumped out of my mouth, while a voice screamed in sync with mine as I shut my eyes in fear after seeing something or someone right before me, letting my phone meet the ground from the fright and let my hands do the talking.
"Get away from me!" I screamed in fear, hitting and kicking within the dark.
"Yaah! That hurts!" A familiar voice complained as I stopped to check while taking strong breaths. 'Jimin?' I wild guessed, even though I couldn't see his face properly since it was pitch dark.
The skies continued to roar as he flipped the flash light on, directing it to him, revealing his face which made him look like a ghost "It's me"
But my body instinctively slapped his face with all my force, since I was still in that adrenalin mode or maybe I just wanted to slap him for scaring me shitless...
"Yaah!" He whined as I grabbed my phone that was still on the floor and switched the light back on.
"Sorry..." I apologized, clenching my lips tightly.
He was glaring at me while touching his cheek with his palm as if it was really sore. With the kind of look he was throwing at me, he was practically calling me a bitch. The words didn't even need to come out of his mouth.
"Was the slap really needed...?" He commented with an irritated tone as he twisted his lips a bit.
"You looked like a ghost so my body slapped you in self-defence" I shrugged lifting my hands a bit in the air, while justifying my actions.
"You also looked like one, when I turned the light between our faces and I didn't do anything to you" He complained.
"You've got great self control" I smiled cheekily at my cousin as I came to a realization.
Wait a minute...
"...what are you doing in my house?" I ended up asking, crossing my arms.
"My home got flooded with the rain, so I asked Chang Wook if I could stay over just until the landlord gets my place fixed" He explained himself.
"Oh... okay... but how did you get the keys though?" I scrunched my eyebrows.
"I dropped by his workplace and he borrowed it"
"Oh..." I mumbled.
"Do you have any candles around? The lights been out for quite a while now" He commented as I directed my phones light to the corridor console table "It's in that drawer"
"Now... I need to take a warm shower" I muttered as I left him to light up the place with the candles we had. While I turned the tap to fill in the bathtub with warm water, I quickly went and grabbed my warm pyjamas from my closet and placed them on the toilet seat.
I locked the door and dipped myself comfortably in the bath as steam filled the air. I just wanted to wash away my worries.
How am I going to tell him.... Oppa is going to kill me...
I splashed water on my face as I sighed at the thought.
