Misa may have just discovered who Kira is.

By agreeing to marry him.

And by forcing him to stop killing criminals for two days.

Light may be unconscious.

And L also may be mentally in shock.

"So... well done Misa!" I clap my hands together slightly awkwardly and smile at the smug blonde.

Misa's eyes dart around the room. "So, where's Light?"

Uh.

"He's-" I begin hastily.

"Unfortunately, Freya has knocked him out," L fills in for me, not sounding at all concerned for his godly friend.

Misa begins to yell and stomp.

I really appreciate it.

"ANYWAYS!" I raise my voice over Misa's racket. "What's the next step?" I ask, directing the question to L.

Watari enters the room wheeling a trolly of small cakes and macaroons.

L picks one off. "I suppose this is what you'd call a victory, right Matsuda?" he begins.

I smile at Watari who offers me a plate of the macaroons.

"But we still don't know exactly how he kills his victims," I say, filling in for Light's absence.

L nods and starts placing the macaroons on the surface of the desk. "Yes, that's what I was thinking. Before we arrest Higuchi, I want to find out how he kills people." He flicks one macaroon into the others, bouncing them off one another impressively.

"Hm... that's risky, but if the criminals stop dying we won't be able to figure it out, right?"

"Yes," L replies, inspecting a fruit tart by holding it in front of his face, "at any rate, if we do arrest Higuchi we're not going to do it until we're certain that criminals have stopped dying... let me think about this for a moment..." he murmurs, then clicks his computer to contact Wedy.

"Weddy?"

"Yeah?"

"An update on the current situation please," L requests.

"Everything's going smoothly, we should be able to track them on our cameras inside the building," Weddy reports.

L thinks for a second. "What about outside the office?"

"That's not gonna be possible with just Watari, me, and the boys," Wedy replies.

Huh, so Near and Mello are helping Wedy...

"What if you focus solely on Higuchi?"

"Higuchi? He has super high tech security..." she tells him exasperatedly. "It took me three days just to break into the place."

"Sure does sound suspicious," Matsuda says with interest.

"Ok," L drawls, "then begin instilling microphones, trackers and cameras - but not in the house, instead just... put them in every car."

"What!" Weddy exclaims, "After coming is far? Do you have any idea how many cars this guy has?"

"He has six," says L, grabbing an eclair.

I chuckle to myself.
