"What's going on?" Yagami marches towards us. "I heard criminals are being killed again!"
L sits with an air of apathy as the others bustle around the main desk.
I sigh and seat myself on the long table, swinging my legs carelessly.
"All of them were broadcast after Higuchi's death," says Aizawa.
Yagami seems disheartened. "Do you think this means Higuchi wasn't Kira after all?"
"No..." Light begins, "it's safe to say Higuchi was the one killing criminals until we apprehended him."
L still says nothing.
"So this means we're dealing with yet another Kira..."
Matsuda hangs his head. "Aww man, not again..."
"Damn, damn you, Kira." Light clenches his fist.
He is at his utmost godliness.
But I still hate him.
The deceiving prune.
"These killings began after Misa was released," L points out, biting into a small panda cracker.
Honestly, they just look like miniature versions of him.
"Really?" Light says exasperatedly. "You're still going on about that?"
Everyone is lying to themselves.
We're all acting now.
Waiting for our plans to be set in motion.
Light as well.
"She has nothing to do with this," he continues, "this started as soon as Higuchi died."
Aizawa widens his eyes as L tips out all of his crackers from the box.
"Hm, I suppose you're right..." L becomes scarily serious. "Well, if there is another notebook out there and someone is using it to kill criminals..." The small cracker in his fingers is crushed with a loud snap. "I'll just have to bring that person to justice."
Yikes.
Poor cracker.
Light steps forwards with godly swagger. "Ryuzaki, I've been thinking..."
We don't care what you've been thinking.
"Even if we do manage to catch the person with the notebook, will we still be able to prosecute them for mass homicide?"
Now, here's the part where I keep my fingers crossed everything sticks to the storyline...
I've already broken the golden rule of appearing in anime and told L what's going to happen.
Even gone into so much detail we've made a plan on how to avoid it!
So, I just need to hope he's smart enough to act as though he's oblivious.
"Of course we will!" Matsuda glares. "They've intentionally been writing names in the notebook knowing people will die," he says angrily, "even if we don't plan on publicly acknowledging the notebook, the least we can do is execute the killer!"
Matsuda wants Kira to die.
I can't blame him...
He's very emotional at the moment.
"It's not a very humane way to do it... but the higher-ups would probably want to take measures like that," Aizawa agrees reluctantly.
L speaks up. "If they admit to killing with the notebook they'd receive the death penalty... or life in prison at least," he says monotonously, before munching on some more crackers. "That's the best that they could hope for."
