Maeum's romantic life through the eyes of the media isn't something she can always control. She is part of the entertainment business so it doesn't come to a shock when her own fans as well as those beyond create sparks of a potential romance with those in the entertainment business.

MAEUM & HYUNA
The friendship formed by the older singer was not one Maeum had ever expected. A goddess among men in Maeum's eyes, she had supported Hyuna throughout the many stages in her career. From her position as a rapper in Wonder Girl's to 4minute to finally her solo career, Maeum remained a loyal stan which was shown throughout her years in front of the camera gushing over one of her idols.
The older girl, however, discovered Maeum through her many fans asking if she knew of the young singer who had a striking resemblance to her former groupmate. Curiosity grasped at her to the point where she actively searched for her friend's lookalike until she found her in a form of cold exterior with a smile that made her smile.
The two didn't officially meet until 2016 during the MAMA awards after her performance. Cameras didn't hesitate to show Maeum's fangirling (to which Hyuna found adorable) and caught snippets of the two girls engaging in a hug. The two met up backstage where the beginnings of friendship had formed.
Following the event, the two had been spotted with one another frequently. Maeum, still being a Hyuna stan doesn't hesitate to show her love via social media whenever Hyuna does something, to which said girl responds its equal love, hyping the girl up if she so much as breathes.
Maeum isn't the best when it comes to forming friendships with female idols so she feels immensely proud of the strong bond she had formed with Hyuna.
