• Maeum's love for 2NE1 had been shown since the start. Tweets upon tweets of support for their music can be seen if you scroll to her first appearance as a BTS member
• While her role had been critiqued since the start, her performance in the 2014 MAMA awards with Jimin ruffled feathers for being "sexual" had been a moment where all attention good and bad was on her. It was a hit and miss for some but for Maeum it was definitely a hit, despite her idols not being able to attend she received praise from the goddess herself for her performance
• They met officially during the MAMA 2015 awards backstage. With BTS' collaboration with GOT7 and CL's solo performance of "hello bitches", the two converged backstage. Maeum getting the courage to introduce herself and wishing her a good performance. Something simple and would take a few seconds
• "Oh I remember your performance from last year. It was impressive" were the words that came out of her idol's mouth
• Cue inner fangirling Maeum trying to act "cool" and keep it together with a simple nod and stutters incoherent words of gratitude
• Following that interaction, CL had asked her people to set up further contact with her people
• It was different seeing a female in an all male group so curiosity peaked at her. She knew of the rising success BTS was accumulating and after their small talk backstage, had made an effort to peak further into Maeum's career
• Talent was what she saw. Lots of it.
• A friendship was formed with time. As her senior, Maeum respected CL and took her advice to heart. Remembering to always stay true to herself and the person she shows the media and her fans.
• A bond was created. Secrets were shared, insecurities were revealed. The issue of sexuality was one that Maeum never brought up often to others and something she had a hard time understanding but confided in CL who showed nothing but support and was there for her in her times of confusion
