Maeum has had her fair of scandals, both on the aspect of relationships and outside. Compared to the other members in BTS, Maeum is often the target for any name slandering. Here are some of the stories in which the media took a situation and blew it out of proportion.

SITUATION:
What started as BTS getting ready for their trip to Northern Europe for their third anniversary had turned ugly at the hands of netizens speculations. It all started during the members packing, each deciding what was essential and what wasn't. ARMYs took noticed of a drawer Maeum had opened that was immediately shut. Most took it as her undergarments and thought nothing more but, antis thought otherwise.
It was then unveiled to be two boxes of condoms. One box had been turned on its top suggesting it had been emptied while the other was assumingly an unopened box. Antis have discovered the boxes to hold two hundred sets of condoms, one of which Maeum had gone through.
Solo stans were quick to take antis word and point figures at a possible relationship between Maeum and the boys. Netizens entered the situations demanding for an apology and a revelation. There were others who took to calling out male idols seen around Maeum one of which being Jackson Wang who had at the time had formed a friendship with Maeum.
True ARMYs were quick to attack anti behavior, arguing that anti-speculation could not be confirmed considering the drawer was blurred and if it was true that Maeum was her own woman and can do as she pleases without explaining herself.

Following Bon Voyage episodes were postponed as angry continued to rise and for a period BigHit was quiet about the situation. A statement was set to be released asking for privacy and leave the situation open-ended in order to protect Maeum but she had spoken out before anything could be done.
